We got to Jake's house a little late.

we were greeted at the door by Jake's ass peaking out the small opening of the door. something he does often.

I gave Jake a big hug right after walking in. Ashton embraced Kendall. We all sat at the dining room table. Twilight Zone played on the TV in the living room. Kendall poured Ashton a glass of red wine while the rest of us took a few shots before pouring our rum and coke. Footsteps were heard coming down the stairs. It was Taylor holding an empty wine glass. Ashton and I stood up as she came over to hug us.

"Good to see you again Ashton," she said with a smile, pulling off her. "Hello, love." She responded. After Taylor hugged me, she walked over to Kendall, holding up her glass. She then asked Kendall to pour more wine. She walked around the table while we were talking and then stood next to the chair Edd was sitting in. After a few minutes of talking, Taylor delicately placed her hand on the back of the chair. from our angle, we could see her fingers touching Edds back. She did well when hiding it from everyone's view. It was obvious when Edd smiled to himself immediately after feeling her. Plus, he tried to hide the smile by taking another shot of rum. We let the conversation run dry for a little before deciding to bring up our drive home.

"We have to talk to you all about something," I said, looking around the room. Ashton nodded slightly as she pulled the glass from her lips.

" Did you get suspended again?" Jake responded with a small laugh.

"Is that why they called your name on the announcements?" Kendall asked.

"I didn't get suspended, but I did see Mrs. Bringston in her office." "Sounds hot," Jake replied.

"She is dead," Ashton stated before taking another sip from her glass. Everyone's face showed confusion and or disbelief.

"She got into an accident on the way home. She was barely recognizable." I added.

"You saw her body?" Jake asked softly,

"two." Ashton responded.

"Both drivers, including Mrs.Bringston, were undoubtedly dead. Mrs. Bringstons's car was twisted in all directions. someone took the headrest off the driver seat so her neck snapped over the seat and her head wound up in the backseat. the side of her head was split wide open, and a good portion of her skull and brain matter spilled onto the seat behind the driver seat.

The man driving the bigger car was ejected from the driver's seat. He was unrecognizable when we were walking up. first, we saw his leg on the right side of the road. it looked severed at the groin. part of his torso and arms looked entwined in the guardrail. his head and the contents inside were thrown and scattered across the asphalt.

There was a passenger. A girl. She was wearing a seatbelt but it looks like something hit her head so hard, it broke her skull. she was alive when we got there and was talking to us, but we could see the pressure building up in her head. we did CPR and the fire department worked on her when they got there. when we pulled her out of the car, she was bleeding from her eyes, her ears, her nose, and mouth. I am no doctor, but it looked like she was expiring"

"You're fuckin with us Forrest, So hold on. Mrs. Bringston, the counselor. She's fucking dead?! Edd asked. Yeah, man, she's gone. half her head was missing when we found her. When I got called in today, I met with her. She gave me a few things before I left the office". I stated.

I grabbed the journal from my backpack. It had a soft white cover with a small black cross in the center. The pages were clean and still had a stiffness to them. Her penmanship was a little hard to read. She wrote in cursive. something they do not teach us anymore. The date at the top read August 13th, 1965. Edd read aloud while we all sat back in our chairs. From what we could tell She sounded excited about being pregnant. Her friends made her feel warm and joyful about the upcoming child in later entries. She explained she felt her husband was changing the closer they got to her due date before she gave birth. She had been beaten severely quite a few times. His name was Jacob. The first entry after he was born expressed excitement and optimism about her family. In the following years, concern about the boy's development began to arise. They were told the boy has autism. After the doctors let her know the condition of the boy, she expressed embarrassment and regret. Near the end of 1968, Bishop Turner visited the house for the first time and blessed the child. The penmanship got a little sloppy. Maybe had been beaten more so over the years. She would express confusion and guilt. She felt she was defacing God for that is what her husband constantly told her. He blamed her for Jacob's condition. In 1971, the husband gave her a choice. Either they send the boy away to the institution for the mentally retarded, or he would take Jacob's life at the creek behind their home. He gave her 24 hours to make a decision and say goodbye. He was six years old when they brought him to Willow Creek. He stayed under Bishop Turner's care until the facility closed a few years later. I reached back into my backpack and pulled out the photo in the picture frame. Willow Creek State Educational Institution.
