A few days had passed since Auden's meeting with Patrick, and she had yet to tell Cillian about her scheduled meeting with Jenni. She had no idea how to approach the subject, and part of her felt like it was better if he didn't know. Jenni had a powerful hold over Cillian in that she could destroy his entire day with one comment. Auden knew that if Cillian had found out, he would be determined to be in the meeting or try to stop it all together, creating unnecessary drama that Jenni could potentially spread.

Auden prayed that Jenni would keep her mouth shut about it and every day she found herself tense, waiting for Cillian to confront her. Yet, as the days went by, the topic never came up.

Auden was partially glad, though she was beginning to feel guilty about keeping it from him. After Cillian experienced her panic attack firsthand, Auden felt a new closeness budding between them. It was comforting to know that it wasn't something that deterred him from being with her -- Cillian had reminded her that it was just a small part of who she was and not something definitive. She wanted to continue feeling that level of intimacy, and she would not Jenni ruin that.

Auden continued to remind herself of this as she walked into her office that morning. Today was the day that she would be meeting with the woman set on destroying her life, and Auden would be damned to let that happen.

When Auden opened the door to her office, the smell of evergreen trees smacked her in the face. Brigid was in the process of decorating her office for the holidays when Auden arrived. There was an undecorated tree in the corner, along with some scented candles lit up on her desk, causing the overwhelming smell. Brigid was casually standing on Auden's desk chair, hanging red and green string lights over the tops of her windows.

"What are doing?" Auden asked, scaring her friend. Brigid jumped, nearly falling to the ground as the lights crashed to the floor. Brigid shot her a dirty look.

"I told ya last week that we were going to hang up holiday shit," Brigid said as she got off the chair and began picking up the lights.

"As fun as that sounds," Auden replied sarcastically, "I have a meeting I need to mentally prep for."
