Things changed when Nicolas' triplet brothers Matt and Chris started talking to Malcum more and more often again. Malcum had been close to the brothers in the past, but they had grown apart over the months. Now they were back in touch, and it seemed like they wanted to include Malcum in their social circle again.
Nicolas was happy that his brothers and Malcum were getting along, but he couldn't help feeling a little left out. He missed the days when it was just the two of them, hanging out and talking about everything under the sun. He also couldn't help but notice that Malcum was spending more time with his brothers than with him.
One day, Matt, Chris, Nicolas, and Malcum invited Nicolas' best friend Madi and Madi's friend Ashly to join them in their van for a YouTube video. Ashly was someone who none of them had ever met before, but Madi had spoken highly of her, so they were excited to get to know her.
As they started filming, Ashly introduced herself, and everyone seemed to hit it off. Malcum tried his best not to look at Nicolas, but he couldn't help it. Every time he looked at him, he saw Ashly being extremely touchy and close to him.
He didn't understand why Ashly was flirting with Nicolas, knowing full well that he was gay. He couldn't help but wonder if she was doing it on purpose, trying to make him jealous or trying to get Nicolas' attention.
As they finished filming and headed to McDonald's to grab a bite to eat, Malcum pulled Ashly aside to ask her about her intentions with Nicolas. He asked her if she knew that he was gay, and she said she did. She went on to explain that the only reason she liked being with Nicolas was that she thought he was very pretty. Malcum was still confused but he let it go.
As they sat in the van eating their burgers and fries, Malcum couldn't help stealing glances at Nicolas once again. He saw how he laughed and joked with his brothers and how he smiled at Ashly, and he felt a twinge of jealousy again. He wished that he could be beside Nicolas.
