Techno had just gotten down into the kitchen, clad in a green dressing gown and Minecraft slippers. He made himself a cup of coffee and basked in the freedom of being awake first. He added a line to his tally, he and Wilbur had a running bet on who could wake up the earliest, so far he was winning ( obviously). But today he was going to be nice. He had decided since it was Father's Day after all. Breakfast for the family, what could be kinder than that. As the coffee started to kick in he could hear the birds outside. Glancing out he could identify a couple but he wasn't the best at bird watching, that specialty was for Phil. He opened the window to let the fresh air in and was hit with an icy breeze. The snow must have fallen heavily last night, he thought, looking over at the forest surrounding them, the tree branches covered in a thick layer of snow.

Back to the task at hand, getting distracted was his specialty, but he didn't have time to waste. Wilbur and Tommy liked to be up early too, so he had to hurry if it was going to be a surprise. He was going to make pancakes with maypole syrup and bacon, but he shuddered at the thought and decided against it. Maybe strawberries and chocolate buttons instead, chat seemed to think it was a good idea. Making sure the ingredients were all there and putting on his favourite sound track, how to train your dragon. He got to work.

Mixing the flour, eggs and milk together with a tablespoon of brown sugar, they all have a sweet tooth. The batter was runny but it was supposed to be as English pancakes were superior. Chat didn't agree with that one, but he knew he was right. Grabbing two pans and a block of butter, he lit the stove, praying he doesn't burn the house down. That would not be a good start to the day, and Phil would not be happy about it either. Spooning the batter into the pan, he watched as it fizzled and settled. As it cooked he got plates from the cupboard and the strawberries and syrup from the pantry.

Just as the first two were finished two sets of feet were heard running down the stairs. His peace was over. He heard Wilbur sigh as he walked through the door, guiding a sleepy Tommy towards the table and sitting him down.
"How is it, that every time I walk through this door in the morning, you are always on the other side?"
"Luck?"
He knew for a fact that it was not luck, he knew that when Wilbur slept it took him around half an hour to get to sleep if he's reading a book, and an hour to sleep if he's been watching tv before hand. When he finally does manage to get to sleep he will be out cold for 8 and a half hours straight. So he has to make sure Wilbur is asleep before he sets a timer for 8 hours and 25 minutes. Did he stay up all night for an entire week to analyse his sleep schedule. Yes. Does he regret it. No . Was he tired by the end of it and did he collapse due to exhaustion. Yes . And sure this may seem a bit extravagant however he wanted to win. Because at the end of the month, whoever wins get to sit back relax and enjoy as the other has to do their chores. For a whole year. He is ecstatic, and he is definitely going to rub it in his poor brothers face.

Wilbur glanced at his brother, unaware of his dramatic monologue going on inside his head and wondered when the first pancake was going to be ready. Tommy who sat opposite was wondering the exact same thing. The smaller blonde glanced at the strawberries and decided to pluck the stems from all of the fruits, making sure to throw them directly at his older brothers head, mainly at his ears sticking out of his hair. Before he could get though 4 he watched as an arm appeared in front of him and took the strawberries off him. As the offending arm moved away it ruffled his hair, he let out an indignant squawk and turned to face the pinkette.
"That was incredibly rude"
"So is chucking strawberry pieces at your brother" he chuckled.
"Are the pancakes done yet" he asked eyes hopeful.
Techno glanced over towards the stove quickly realising that he could sense a slight smell a slight burning smell coming from that general direction.
"Uhhh yeah"
He quickly dashed over to the pans, flipping it over and seeing the blackened edge of the not so perfect pancake.
"Aww techno, you know what they say" Wilbur said in a condoling voice
"No Wilbur, I do not know what they say" he replied already annoyed
"The first pancake always come out a little wonky"
"They don't just say that about pancakes" Tommy muttered under his breath
"Heard that"
"Course you did, it's part of your wonky-ness"
Tommy got a face full of flour because of that.

Once four plates were filled with stacks of pancakes, Techno let out a sigh wondering when his parents would come down the stairs. But as soon as he thought it, they heard a slight disturbance from his room. Techno who had his gift ready, wrapped and signed with a card, glanced over smugly at Tommy who sprung up and muttered 'oh no' under his breath. He then started searching frantically in the draws for scissors and sellotape. The twins chuckled to themselves quietly as they heard Tommy sprint up stairs and slam his door.
"Have you got yours ready" techno asked the brunette
"Yes I have actually, I think he'll really like it". He replied indignantly.
"What is it" techno asked, trying to sound like he hadn't already figured it out.
"You will have to wait and see"
A comfortable silence washed over the two as 'for the dancing and the dreaming' came on the speaker, both the brothers humming the tune and patiently waiting for their father and mother to walk down the stairs.
