"Ad, you look lovely," Aimee reasured me, "I'm ending the call now because you need to leave," "Okay, sorry I've not be on a date for months" I muttered, "Bye" tousling my hair again and checking my make up, saying bye to Athena I left my house and set off to the restaurant to meet my blind date.
Half an hour later I found myself on my second glass of wine as the business man my friend Kath set me up rambled on and on about some business deal he has just made. The entire date has been about him, him and him, I really don't care about the big idea he had today and the deals he closed this week. Not once has he asked about me or asked anything at all. Waiting until he stopped talking I excused myself and left for the bathroom, rolling my eyes I message Aimee a SOS to get me out of here and head back to the table after a few minutes, smiling at Stephan I nodding and pretending to listen as he continued to ramble on about himself. Hearing the generic Iphone ringtone Stephan picked up his phone and talked into it in hushed tones, hanging up he muttered how he had to leave for a business deal that had just come up. Shaking my head I groaned at the fact I hadn't eaten yet and debated whether to order or go home and get a pizza on the way. Hearing a cough I looked up to a guy at my booth,
"I see your date left you before you even ate," He muttered,
"Yeah, a blessing though wouldn't stop talking about himself," I complained,
"He sounds lovely, blind date?" He questioned, nodding I smiled at him "How about we order food and carry on the night?" Biting my lip I looked the stranger over and smiled,
"Sure,"
"Let's order then," He smiled sliding into the booth across from me and picking up a menu "Know what you want?"
"Yeah decided when I got here Stephan just didn't shut up," He chuckled motioning for the waiter to come over and ordered for us.
Whilst waiting for our food we talked about everything and anything from our jobs to movies to his new dog.
When our food arrived the conversation lulled as we ate,
"Have you got that er Heterochromia?" I asked as I noticed his eyes for the fifth time,
"Heterochromia iridum, yeah its one of the reasons I got into genetics," He replied nodding,
"One blue and one green, I've always wanted different eye colours,"
"I've always wanted the same eye colours," he chuckled only to be stopped by my phone ringing,
"Adelaide omg it's an emergency you need to get to the hospital," Aimee gushed,
"Aimee it's okay he left for some business thing," I shook my head,
"Oh, okay" she replied, "you at home then?"
"Erm yeah I'm on my way home now, getting a pizza,"
"Okay good be safe got to go bye" putting my phone away,
"You're on your way home aye?" He smirked,
"Yeah that was my fake emergency," I smiled, "don't need it now though,"
"Good" he smiled, "So why did you decided to be a geologist?"
"Er I don't know, I wanted to be a vet in college but realised the only thing I was good at and enjoyed was geology,"

Two glasses of wine later I am joined in a taxi by my date,
"You haven't told me you're name" I observed,
"You haven't told me yours," he argued back,
"It's Adelaide Clarke,"
"It's Ethan Price" he smiled taking my phone away from me, "Let me give you my number,"
"I'll text you sometime maybe." Pulling up to my apartment building I left the taxi closely followed by Ethan who walked by my side his fingers brushing mine then taking my hand into his own. After a short elevator ride we stopped outside my apartment door,
"Well Ethan thank you for a good night," I muttered smiling,
"You're welcome, was I better company than Stephan?" He asked smiling cheekily at me,
"Much" kissing him on the cheek, I opened my door and entered my apartment.
