There are so many of them, hundreds, no, thousands of them just below the balcony I stand on now. I can vaguely hear the music they have thumping in the streets as demons celebrate the victory they had over my realm and the oncoming wedding for their prince. Valikith expects me to rule over these people, not just those below in the street, but all in this realm? I nearly jump out of my skin as a hand snakes around my waist, I can practically smell the smugness radiating off of my betrothed as I turn to look at him. A smirk stretches across his handsome yet infuriating face as he gazes over the chaos below.
"Are you nervous Songbird? Do my people frighten you?" His smirk only grows as I attempt to speak only to have a small squeak leave my mouth. He chuckles as he pulls me flush against his chest, resting his head on my shoulder so his mouth is right next to my left ear.
"Look at how my people celebrate the destruction of yours, see how they bask in the blood they have spilled. Soon my precious Songbird, you will be their queen. Soon we shall rule over this world and all others."
A shudder runs through my body as his hot breath hits my ear. How had my life taken such a turn? Less than a month ago everything had been normal. I had been almost done with college, I finally had friends and I had enjoyed my job as a bartender. Now my world is over run by monsters, I'm in an arranged marriage, and everyone I knew is gone. What the fuck fate?!?AN: I hope you liked the first chapter of this story. Please leave comments and corrections on my spelling and grammar. I think next chapter will be longer so here's to hoping I have the motivation for it. Word count before this note is 281. Good morning, good afternoon, and good night my precious demons🐰
