My name is Layla Ruby Web. I have dark brown eyes and short brown hair. I like to keep it short even though some people mistake me for a boy. I'm fourteen years old and a transfer student from Ilvermorny. My parents sent me here to attend Hogwarts but had to stay behind with the rest of my family. I also happen to be completely and utterly lost.

I begged and begged my parents to let me attend Hogwarts and they finally gave in. I was starting to regret my decision now though. I'd managed to find King's Cross Station without too much trouble, but I couldn't find the missing platform, especially not through all the crowds. I'd already asked an employee, but he got mad at me for wasting his time.

I glanced at my watch with worry. At this rate, I was going to miss the train completely! I kept getting jostled by the crowd and my owl was getting rather tired of it. She started screeching angrily anytime someone got too close. People stopped bumping into us as much, but now they were staring. I let go of my trolley and rushed over next to her.

"Shh. Shh. It's okay, Taka. Calm down." I said.

She stopped screeching, but she still looked apprehensive and I knew it wouldn't be much longer until she started screeching again. I turned to walk back to the handle when someone slammed into me, making us both fall to the ground.

The stranger got up first and brushed themselves off. He was taller than me, pale, with platinum blond hair and blue-grey eyes. He was also wearing the uniform for boys at Hogwarts minus the robes and a green and silver tie.

"Watch where you're going m-" he stopped, seeming to see me properly for the first time. He looked from owl and trunk to my clothes.

"I've never seen you before. Are you a student at Hogwarts?" He asked.

I got up, rubbing my arm where I'd landed on it.

"Well at this rate it doesn't seem likely," I say bitterly. "Wait! Did you say Hogwarts? Do you know how to get onto the platform?"

He raised an eyebrow at my accent and gave me a look that said quite plainly that he thought I was an absolute moron.

"Of course I do. Don't you?" He said, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"No. I don't." I said curtly. "I'm a transfer student and nobody bothered to tell me how to get on the stupid platform. Now are you going to tell me how to get to the train or not?

That came off as ruder than I would've liked, but he wasn't being the nicest either, besides, there was no way I was going to miss the train on my first day of school.

He looked me up and down, trying to decide if I was worth his time I suppose.

"Alright. Come on. I'll show you."

I followed him carefully trying to stay close enough that I didn't lose him but not so close that I would accidentally run into him. Suddenly as he approached the barrier between platforms 9 and 10, he vanished. I stopped and looked around, trying to tell which way he'd went. Apparently, I took too long because he suddenly appeared by my side again, making me jump.

"You gave me a heart attack!"

"No, I gave you simple instructions. I told you to follow me, but-"

I cut him off.

"I was following you, but you disappeared."

He sighed."You have to walk through this barrier to get to the train."
