JIMIN POV

I look outside my bedroom window as I hang up the
phone from another call.

Of the dozens of conversations I've had with contractors today, I've managed to persuade at least a couple of them to give
the twins another shot.

I'll no doubt have better luck with the rest once the money starts flowing again.

The sun is setting and I'm
just starting to realize how hungry I am.

The last thing I ate was half a bagel on the way out of Paris.

And that feels like it was days ago, even though it's been
hours.

Close to a dozen hours but
still.

I stretch and leave the
bedroom, preparing myself
for the trek to the kitchen.

It feels like I'm setting off on
an expedition just to get from one end of this house to the other but at least I know for
sure I'll be getting plenty of exercise over the course of
this job.

My stomach rumbles as I
reach the kitchen.

Do I smell food cooking, or
is it just wishful thinking?

"Oh good, you're here."

Guk turns and looks over his shoulder, waving a spatula in
my direction.

He's standing over a stove
that is probably older than the two of us combined but I'm
more interested in whatever
is in the pan in front of him.

It smells heavenly.

"I was afraid I'd have to
leave a trail of breadcrumbs to lure you out of your room."

"This delicious smell would
draw me out at some point." I say, moving closer to peek
over his shoulder.

"I wouldn't have guessed
you knew your way around a kitchen."

He quirks an eyebrow and
grins, pouring me a glass of
wine from a nearby bottle.

"You would've guessed wrong then, There are probably other things you don't know about
me that would surprise you."

I'm tempted to take the bait
and ask him about these other things but a flame hisses out from under the pan and makes me jump back in surprise.

He frowns.

"I hate this damn stove."

"I'm going to Paris tomorrow
to buy a barbecue grill and I'll set it up right here in the
kitchen if I have to."

"I'll get some new appliances
in here as soon as I get the cabinets updated." I take a
sip of the wine and let out a contented sigh as I feel its warmth traveling down my
throat and into my stomach.

It's rich and full-bodied and instantly makes my eyelids
feel heavy.

I could definitely curl up with a bottle of this next to one of the massive stone fireplaces that seem to be in every room of
the house.

"Not bad, hmm?" He winks.

"One of the perks of being in France is that there's never a shortage of fantastic wine."

"Or great food, I'll have dinner ready for the two of us in just
a few minutes."

"Just the two of us?" I ask.

"Jungkook isn't going to eat anything?"

"He's not here." He shrugs.

"He left shortly after you came downstairs last time about
the contractor stuff, I think it gave him a good excuse to
go back home for a while."

My mind briefly wonders if Jungkook will be having dinner with anyone tonight but I
push the thought away.

It's none of my business,
after all but I do wonder why he'd be looking for excuses to
go back if he had been
planning on spending time
at the chateau.

Again, none of my business.

"Did we show you the hot tub earlier?" Guk's question pulls
me from my thoughts.

He's leaning against the
counter and watching me,
arms folded across his chest.

His doe eyes are sparkling
and I can only imagine where this question is heading.

"I don't think you did." I say, taking another sip of the heavenly wine.

"It's just right out back."

"You can join me after dinner
if you'd like."

"It's a great way to relax."

"Sounds great." I say.

"But unfortunately, I didn't
bring a bathing suit."

"I'll have to remember to
pick one up next time I get a chance."

"I don't have one, either."

He pauses to let his eyes roam up and down my body.

"But we're both adults and nobody else is here."

"I won't tell if you don't."

He tosses me a sly wink with
the last statement and I'm not sure if it's the wine making me feel reckless or just the way his deep, sexy voice is rolling over me, but I'm tempted to take
him up on his offer.

Really tempted.

"I don't know." I say as the responsible part of my brain
tries to talk the rest of my
body out of doing something
I might regret later.

"I should probably make
it an early night."

"Suit yourself." He finishes off the wine in his glass and turns his attention to plating our food.

But not before he shoots me a playful smirk that feels a lot
like a challenge.

Oh, God.

I'm going to need some more wine.
