Chapter 1
It all started on January 17th 2001. My nose started to bleed and I was coughing up blood at the same time.
I'm only 14 and my name is Cristina Young, I kept saying to myself. Why does it have to be me? How can this happen to me? Nobody answered me, and I had a full room with my Mom, Dad, my three brothers , and four sisters.
I'm the only one in my family that ever had Cancer before. My great great grandparents have never had cancer either. I just don't know how I got it.
I was thinking about all that in my mind while I was coughing up blood.
A few days later I passed out and woke up in a place and I didn't recognize. My mom was sitting their beside me.
She said "Cristina your Cancer has gotten worse. We have figured out what type of cancer it is. Its lung cancer, thats why your coughing up blood. Honey",she said, "Do you have something to tell me about why your coughing up blood."
I said "No.I dont know what's wrong with me. I have noticed that my nose has been bleeding for a little while now. I just didn't tell you about it."
My mom said " Why honey, we could have brought you to the hospital a long time ago.
The doctor walked in and said,"It's very bad Cancer but we can do surgery to get it out your lungs, but we are going to have to start it now.It could save your life," he said.
My mom said very fast, "Yes, bring her in their and get this over with."Chapter 2
"Ok your all fixed no more cancer", the doctor said to me. "You will be lazy for days maybe a week or two, but it's worth having no more cancer. If your nose starts bleeding anymore you know who to call."
Days, weeks, months, even a year has passed. No more bleeding from my nose or coughing up blood. All the pressure coming back to me thinking that it might happen again. I was so scared. I didnt want to have cancer no more. Just sitting their thinking about the past. I need to think about something, maybe about my birthday, it's tomorrow.
Im turning 15 and I hope it don't turn out how it did last year. Last year it was only two days after my birthday that I ended up with cancer. If I turn out with cancer again I will be ruined.
"Cristina it's dinner time," my mom yelled to me. "We are having tocos."
My mom new that it was my favorite food. I said "coming." I ran down the stairs and yelled "y'all better have left me a hard shell." Mmm my favorite.
I ate at least 2 of those and 1 soft one before I went back to my room. I fell back on my bed and went straight to sleep.
I woke up the next morning and went down the stairs and everyone yelled happy birthday. I was so surprised at all the things that they have done for me. They had decorations and a cake with icecream. They said "We are giving you a better birthday than from last year because of what happened to you so you won't think about it."
They took me out to do my favorite thing. Lazer Tag.Its such a fun thing to do. I have a family of ten people and they only let ten people in at a time. So every time we went to do Lazer tag we had just our family together.
After we did it three times each we also went out to get snowballs because we had several choices of what to do and my whole family chose snowballs. They are just so good.Chapter 3
Months have passed by. No more signs of cancer and i'm feeling great.
Its May 21st, the first day of summer and we are going straight to vacation in Miami Florida, and staying in a condo on a beach in Miami.
We are planning to only stop a few times on the way there, and it's like 12 hours just to get there.
My parents sat here and prayed for at least 10 minutes over me making sure that cancer wouldn't come back during the trip.
We are staying in Miami for two months and than for the other month we are going to visit my Grandparents in California which is 32 hours away. We are really busy over this summer.
When we got to the beach condo, we unpacked all our things and went straight to the ocean. We swam for hours and I was so burned, I looked like a lobster. Since we are staying there for two months, I will be tan when we go to California.
The two months flew by. Before we knew it we was on the way to California.
By July we were in California. It felt like it took forever to get there. My Grandparents are pretty old. They were deaf so we had to learn sign language. It is fun to learn new things.
When we all woke up the next morning, my Grandfather had a heart attack when he was outside on the farm feeding the animals. That was bad luck for my summer but he was 86 years old and God knew when it was his time to go up to heaven.
When we told our Grandmother in sign language, she was so sad and she died a few days later from being in shock for so long. She couldn't sleep or do anything. She was 85 years old. God knew when it was her time to go to heaven too.
