"Don't forget your tote" Payu reminds Rain while getting out of the car. Payu tells the driver he will text him when they are ready to leave, but he doesn't need to stay close; they will be here most of the day.
Taking in the scene before them, there are dozens of white umbrellas shadowing wooden tables and chairs underneath them lined in rows right on the sand. People are lounging in beach chairs near the water's edge, some are wading in the water or out further swimming. The beach is colored with people of all ethnicities, such a warm welcoming sight
"Wow P', you really thought of everything, this is amazing" Walking through the maze of tables, finding an empty one, they put their bag down. Looking around Rain notices this is no regular beach, he sees gay and lesbian couples walking hand in hand along the beach, sitting and eating together, swimming in the water. Grabbing Payu's hand, interlocking their fingers.
Payu looks down at their hands and back at Rain, he has the most beautiful smile on his face, like he stole this sun itself. They can just be themselves here, no worrying who will see. He squeezes Rain's hand, smiling down at him "Come, lets walk"
Strolling down the beach proudly hand in hand "I'm not sure I want to go home P'" swinging their arms excitedly.
"I'm glad you like it"
They sit down together, on the sand, the tide rushes to meet them and falls back just before it hits their feet, digging their toes in the sand, looking up, the sky is the most beautiful shade of cobalt, not a single cloud in sight
"Rain?"
"Hmm?"
"What do you think about building a house together?"
"To live in?"
Payu nods
"What, like just for us?"
"Yes, is that something you would want?...to live with me?"
"But P' I already live with you" confusion flitting across his face
Payu smiles at Rain's innocence "I guess what I'm trying to say is.... Do you want to live with me permanently, as in forever?"
Rain looks into Payu's eyes sensing his serious demeanor , he can tell this is something he's really been thinking about. How does he not know by now just how much I love him? Rain crawls in between Payu's legs sitting on his knees face to face. He leans in and kisses him, a soft gentle kiss
Looking directly into Payu's eyes "Yes P', I want to be with you for the rest of my life"
There is such love and sincerity in his eyes. This boy is his whole world, he would follow him to the ends of the earth and back, he would protect him with his life, his ACTUAL life, he would die for this human if it meant keeping him safe. Every day for the rest of his life will not be long enough to share with him. He's never experienced such deep love before, no feelings he's had for anyone else could even compare to the utter adulation and devotion he feels for Rain. So to hear that Rain does indeed feel the same way gives him hope making him feel warm inside. Rain does things to him that he's unable to process properly. His heart physically aches when Rain is not with him. He needs to be with this beautiful soul forever and beyond. I need to marry him, make him mine, all mine.
"What are you thinking P'?" Payu looks like he's a thousand miles away
"Well..." He takes a long pause to gather his thoughts "I'm your first and I will be your last. I need to know that your Ok with that, that you've thought this through, and it's truly what you want, that I'm what you want"
"I know you worry P', but I've never meant anything more than I mean this, I love you, and only you, can you believe that, TRUST that?"
Leaning in to Rain their foreheads touching. Payu inhales deeply "yes" he breathes out
Rain wraps his arms around his boyfriend, burying his face into the side of his neck
"Love you"
Payu squeezes Rain to him "love you too" Payu's heart swells in his chest
Standing up brushing the sand from their bottoms, "Let's find some food"
They spend the rest of their day relaxing on the beach, people watching, swimming in the ocean and eating everything they lay their eyes on
Rain is watching a family, two moms and their little boy playing in the water when he feels Payu squeeze his hand, he looks over
"Let's go back to our villa there is something I want to give you"
The sun is beginning to set once their driver drops them back off at their room
Rain kicks off his sandals at the entrance, making a b-line to the bathroom "Shower?" he calls behind him
"Wait... first I want to give you something" Payu heads for the dresser across from the bed, opening the third drawer down he pulls out a red velvet box, slightly smaller than the size of his palm
Rain quickly closes the space between them, eyes wide "What's that?, is that for me?"
"Sit' Payu points to the bed
Rain obediently toddles over and sits
Payu sits next to Rain on the bed, turning to face him he holds out his hand, the red box sitting flat in his palm
"Here" He says almost shyly
Rain hesitantly takes the box from his boyfriend
"Can I open it?"
"Please" nodding his head
What could this possibly be? Rain's mind races with the possibilities. It's definitely not a ring, no, this is not how you ask someone to marry you. Anxious now, he slowly lifts the lid of the soft velvet box
Rain sees a necklace, a silver chain with an umbrella charm hanging from it , a shiny silver open umbrella with a curved handle and two attached raindrops made of blue gemstones falling from the underside of the umbrella.
"Wow P' this is really neat"
"Do you know what it means?" searching Rain's face for recognition
" Means? Ummm, no sorry not really." Rain admits, knowing he is missing something important but can't quite figure out what
"So I wanted to give you something that signifies the day we met"
"OH?....OOH"
There it is, Payu thinks
"Is this because I held the umbrella for you when you were changing my tire P'?"
"That's right, that kind gesture is one of the things that made you stand out, made me remember you, well that and that beautiful face of course" Payu smirks
"Wow P', did you have this made?"
"I did, turn it over"
Rain pulls the necklace from the box, turning the silver piece over in his hand, inscribed on the back reads 'Rainstorm' in English
"That's us P'" Rain's smile stretching from ear to ear
Payu nods "Here let me put in on you" Payu stands up clasping the necklace behind Rain's neck, going over to the mirror Rain holds the little umbrella in his fingers, caressing the gemstones
"I love it P', I love it so much, thank you" Turning around to face Payu, Rain holds his arms up making grabby hands, so Payu grabs him by the waist hoisting him up so the boy can wrap his legs around his waist
Kissing his forehead "Now you have something to always remember that day"
"Like I could ever forget meeting you P', my handsome knight on a bike, who'd come to save me" He winks at Payu
"Ok smart ass, let's go take a shower"
