You're a little worried, if you're being honest.
Vinny's older brother is doing as he promised, giving him some training every night before the club opens. There's another warehouse, much smaller than the one the club is in, that's concrete floors and solid steel beams, mostly empty except for crates and extra supplies. It's a great place to train, but watching Vinny get his ass kicked is making you want to pull your hair out!
Dammit, man ---- er, demon, whatever, get your shit together!
"Duck, Vinny!" you yell as Vinny stands there, barely dodging in time as a hellhound reaches for him. The skinny demon drops to the ground with a gasp, desperately scuttling back with his hands as the hellhound starts to go after him again. He's playing good defense, you'll give him that, but he needs some offense as well!
You frown where you sit on a crate, your legs swinging back and forth above the ground. You're off work, and had sort of just barged into the club like you were a regular to check up on the baby demon. His brother isn't around tonight, and Rosie is managing the club, so it's just you, Vinny, and that bald hellhound.
You gotta admit, it's a scary creature. You'd never seen one until you went to the club, and they're not that intimidating to you when they're just tall, looming Lurch's. But when they shift into their hound form, they make your skin crawl.
It's like their veins have fire in them, glowing beneath the black fur as they prowl the room, large teeth snapping and red drool dripping from their lips. They're as big as any wolf, but one hundred times more detrimental to someone's health.
You sigh as the hellhound grabs Vinny by the back of his jacket, dragging him across the cold concrete to where you sit. You have to admit, you're a little disappointed when Vinny just collapses onto the ground, giving up.
"C'mon, Vinny, you can do this." You say as you look down at him, leaning forward just a little bit. Your hair spills over your shoulders, braids and feathers decorating the long strands. You'd decided on a little flair tonight, added some thick black makeup around your eyes, and wore the top that practically has your tits falling out of it.
You look pretty damn good in your opinion, and the way Vinny had looked at you when you'd walked in --- well, if he'd had his way, the two of you would still be holed up in that water closet. Alas, you're responsible, and he needs a lot of training if he isn't going to die soon.
Not that you can tell him that.
You chew your lip worriedly, white teeth biting into the tender flesh. What in the world are you going to do? You're a valkyrie, the entire point of your existence is to carry off his soul when he departs, you can't exactly not do that. Bowie might be paying you to keep Vinny safe, but you're personally invested at this point.
He's the only creature that's ever been sweet to you.
"I don't think I can." Vinny groans where he lays at your feet, his arms sprawled out at his sides. His shiny red jacket is bunched up uncomfortably beneath his back, and he grimaces, casting his dark eyes up towards yours. "I'm sorry I suck so bad at this."
"Well, you just need some practice. You don't just immediately become a badass overnight." You tell him, black nails tapping against the crates. "Isn't your brother supposed to be here helping too, not just letting his minions do his dirty work?"
"Ah, I think he had a meeting somewhere. He said he would be back later tonight, though."
"Ugh, how annoying." You slip off the crates easily, your boots loud as they hit the concrete floor. You offer your hand to the demon sprawled out in front of you, quirking your brows at him. "Are you gonna get up or lay there all night?"
