【May 6th】

The rain continued to pour as numerous students exited the school building, walking home with their friends or waiting for someone to come pick them up.

"Alright." The boy spoke to the phone.

"Okay. See you later grandma." Sakakibara hung up, he had his back leaning against the wall. A few kids walked passed him, talking with a friend or busy with their own thoughts. But overall, the halls we're quite. The only sound there was, was the sound of rain.

The boy let out a heavy sigh, his grandma had insisted to pick him up from school. Earlier this morning, he forgot to bring his umbrella, leading the boy to be in his current situation.

Sakakibara stared into space, his mind completely blank. "Oh. You've brought your cellphone with you?" A voice inquired.

Kouichi Sakakibara POV

"Oh. You've brought your cellphone with you?"

I heard someone spoke, there was no one else in the hallway, so I instinctively turned to look at the person. It was Teshigawara-kun.

"Teshigawara-kun." His hands were stuffed in his pockets, Teshigawara's bag was on his right shoulder. The boy approached me with a smirk.

"Just call me by my name*" he informed, taking out a cellphone with accessories dangling from the top right corner. His smirk changed into his signature grin.

"Anyways, give me your number. I've got a cellphone too!~♪" the light brown haired boy exclaimed, a closed eye smile adorned his face .

"Impressive, you're only a junior yet you already have a cellphone, do all people living in Tokyo have one too?" He inquired, having never experiencing the life of Tokyo, Teshigawara was quite curious about the everyday life in Tokyo.

"Yeah—", "if it's PHS*, then about 1 in 3 people have one." Sakakibara explained, taking out his own phone to exchange numbers with his fellow classmate.

*A/n: PHS stands for 'Personal Handy phone System' (based on the *T/n in the manga)

The boy stared blankly at his cellphone, his brown eyes hollow, as if those eyes belonged to a corpse; the eyes that doesn't show life.

"By the way, can I ask you something?" He asked, Sakakibara's body was indeed standing there, but he could swore his mind was elsewhere. His eyes locked on one spot, it felt so difficult for him to look anywhere than that. He wasn't even looking at anything in particular.

The newbie forced himself out of his daze, after all, this question was quite important. Normally, someone would say: "no, nevermind" and brush of their earlier question or statement —when they're zoning out—. But, to the boy, this matter was way more important than zoning out.

Teshigawara's ears perked up, his eyes glanced at his classmate who was standing Infront of him. Without waiting any replies, Sakakibara started off with the matter that has been weighing his mind.

"You know that girl…in our class, Misaki." He started, recalling the events that happened at the rooftop. The way he called his name, it all replayed in his head like a film.

What the boy had failed to notice was Teshigawara's shocked face. His eyes slightly widened at the mention of the girl's name, his mouth slightly agape.
