Ah yes....another day at work. I'm here early today. As I enter my office I see someone I didn't think I would. It's a man in a purple shirt drinking coffee, and he looks extremely jaded.
"Look who decided to show up?"
"Hey" he smiles sleepily, his accent as prominent as ever.
"How are ya now?"
"Oh you know Henry, the same old"
"Of course William, what else could it be?" I chuckle. It had been two days since I last saw him.....but it felt like weeks. We had been friends for about ten years now....ever since I transferred to Britain and happened to shift to a house opposite to his. He's always been lethargic and weird.....but always supported me through everything. He was never THIS tired though, no, this whole thing started about a year back. Very recent.
"How's the kids?"
"Well...." He starts, "Michael's in high school now, Evan's a bit of a crybaby and Elizabeth just started taking piano lessons"
"Sounds great!"
"What about Charlie?" he asks, smiling a bit wider,
"Having tea parties....by herself" I sigh. "She refuses to talk to other kids her age....she says they'll ruin her tea party."
"Oh kids....." William laughs, setting down his coffee on his table and glancing at his watch. "Looks like it time Henry" he says, "We're open!"
We come outside our office to see families coming inside the diner, children gasping in delight. Looks like the Christmas decorations we picked out were just sparkly enough to make this diner look less greasy than usual. Sweet. The animatronics don't look OR smell bad either.....looks like today's gonna be great!
