As the mists cleared and The castle McDuck  was in view, Dewey couldn't help feeling nauseous, not just because Launchpad was driving. Ever since he and Webby started investigating Della Duck, Dewey had been...anxious whenever his family went adventuring together. Of all the words to describe Dewey, anxious has got to be at the bottom of the list. Still, it's not like he didn't have his reasons. Discovering Scrooge's epic family secrets? Sounds fun. Potential/indefinite adventure? He couldn't think of anything better. Certain doom? A normal Tuesday. Discovering Scrooge's less epic family secrets about how horrible his mom was and watching Huey and Louie be emotionally devastated for all of eternity? Terrifying. Huey and Louie discovering Dewey had been searching for information about their mom and telling Webby before he told them? Slightly less terrifying. He looked down at the Sphere of Selene to try to clear his mind...

"Wow, that's a good one!" Webby said looking down at the mythical slideshow ball of doom. To say Dewey jumped out of his skin would be an understatement. More like he jumped to the moon and back in a quarter of a nanosecond (pun intended).

"How long have you been there watching me?"

"20-30 minutes. You haven't told your brothers what we found out about your mom?" classic Webby, bringing something up right as Dewey is trying not to think about that thing to move the plot forward.

"Tell them what exactly? She took the Sphere of Selene? We have no idea what that means, we don't even know what it looks like. Why get them in a panic when this could all be a dead end?"

Considering the fact that Dewey's mind was overflowing with potential excuses that was actually a pretty decent rationalization. Webby looked back at him with a "I understand but I still think you're completely wrong but I feel bad so I won't push and make it worse" face, a face he knew very well. Yet another reason why he had to shut this conversation down.

Dewey knew Webby was smarter than him but, she just- she just couldn't be right this time. He was helping. He was being smart about this. He cannot be the dumb, irresponsible, retard of a brother again. This had to be the right thing to do.

Crash! A beautifully embarrassing portrait of Uncle Donald fell to the ground, landing suspiciously close to Dewey's feet. He immediately scooped up the paper before anyone else could get it and began reading, "If borrowed crown is what you seek, venture below and follow your beak". 'Okay Dewey you can do this, what does it mean...'

"Like a king's crown?"

'Huey!' Realization hit Dewey in the face. 'This could be about mom!' He was going to have to find a way to figure this one out solo. No more forgetting important things, no more being bad at keeping secrets, he had to be smart and cunning, not Dewey.

"Or crown like old-zie time-zie money!" Louie added.

The gears in Dewey's head were turning but, before he could realize, Louie had taken the message right out of his hand! He couldn't let them keep investigating, he just couldn't! But how could he even begin to stop them?

"Boys!" a sing-song voice called out, breaking Dewey from his thought trance. God, he's got to stop doing that.

"Stall her, I'll fix the painting" Dewey blurted. 'At least this will buy me some time'. He grabbed the painting and put it up, trying his hardest to think, 'why's it so hard for me to come up with a plan'. Dewey hated being different but now wasn't the time to dwell on his own stupidity. "This is mom's handwriting, this riddle could be the key to finding her, I've got to solve it before they do to make sure it's nothing bad."

Huey grumbled behind him. 'Oh shit'.
