backstory: this takes place during tommy's finale. this is after c!wilbur has left and c!tommy and c!tubbo are about to fight c!dream for the last time.
ALSO in no way am i shipping tommy and tubbo in this chapter, characters or not. idk how they feel about it and i personally don't ship it so that wasn't what i was trying to portray in this.
anywaysss enjoy the slight(?) angst :)
Tommy's pov:
Tall blades of grass blow in the wind, gently grazing my fingertips draped over our beloved bench. A symphony I know all too well plays as we watch the sun set beneath the buildings in the distance. I'd usually take this view for granted nowadays. But now, in light of current events, I'm trying to soak in as much of this moment as I can.
As the music lulls me into a stupor, I lower my head onto Tubbo's lap, curling into a ball on the bench. If I could only change the circumstances, this would be perfect. Bring back Wilbur. Call back Phil. Bring back Tech-
No. I'm living in the moment.
Bring back Ran-
No. I said I'm living in the moment.
Tubbo tentatively rests his hand on my head, as if asking for permission. I lean into his touch and he starts fluffing my curls, gingerly combing his fingers through it while avoiding the few tiny braids littered in my hair. This could be perfect.
The sun sets in the auburn sky, signaling the end of our last day. Our last-
"Are you ready for L'moonberg?"
"Yes, Tubs."
"Then why do you seem so afraid?"
"Because we've lived through this before! What if this time we fail? What if the nuke doesn't work? What if-"
"Shhh." I close my eyes as he plays with my hair. If I just pretend- If I just close my eyes-
He's back.
"Don't worry, Tommy," the voice says, contradicting my mental image. "Everything will be fine."
