We arrived at the beach and there was a good amount of people there. I walked with Matt towards the crowd, his hand brushed by mine a few times. I folded my arms and continued walking.

I looked around for Alex, but saw her no where. "I thought you said Alex would be here?" I asked him. "She said she might come." He defended himself. I took out my phone and texted her.

R: are you coming to the bonfire?
A: I can't, I have a lacrosse game. Sorry :(
R: ughh
A: Are you there??
R: yea Matt talked me into it.
A: Ryan be careful with him
R: I am.
A: K have fun, but not too much fun ;) byee
R: bye.

Great. I made my way through the crowd, trying to stay by Matt. The only thing was that I was claustrophobic. I noticed that there was alcohol and few people were already half drunk.

"Matthew! You came!" I heard that same annoying voice again. Britney. "Ew why'd you bring her?" She asked sticking out her tongue. I looked down biting my lip. "Britney stop. She's cool." He said looking over at me and smiled. He went to grab my hand and this time I let him. Britney just rolled her eyes, flipped her hair, and walked away.

"Her voice is so annoying." I said. Matt laughed. "Yea I can't stand her." He looked over at me with his big hazel brown eyes. I quickly let go of his hand. "Uh so Alex can't come." I said looking away. "Bummer."

The music started to get louder. "Let's dance!" He said pulling me towards the crowd. "Uh I can't really dance." I said pulling away. "C'mon it's easy." He said pulling me close to him. I looked around and saw people swaying their hips and grinding on each other. Yea no I'm not doing that.

I started feeling hot and felt like I couldn't breathe. My eyes bounced in every direction. "Hey you okay?" Matt asked looking concerned. "I need some air." I said turning around and walked through the crowd.

People bumped into me but I kept walking. Finally I found a log and sat down. "Here." I turned around and saw Matt holding out a water bottle. "Thanks." I smiled and quickly drank it.

Matt sat down next to me. "I don't know what Alex told you, but I'm not a bad guy." He said breaking the silence. He's right. He's actually really sweet. "I don't think you're a bad guy." I said with a small smile. "Oh so you're just playing hard to get?" He smirked and then laughed. I looked down and laughed.

"Why do you always look away when you laugh or smile?" He asked. "I don't know.." I replied biting my lip. "I think you have a beautiful smile and should let people see it more." He said smiling. I'm glad it was dark so he couldn't see me blush.

"C'mon I think they finally started the fire." Matt said standing up. I reluctantly got up and headed back towards the crowd.

Matt was right, the fire was going and people were standing around talking. Some people were filming other people being drunk. Matt I think had a beer or two but I stuck to water. I've never really been the drinking type.

"Matthewww." I cringed at the sound of her voice. Britney came over to us and was clearly drunk. "Let's dance." She said laughing and twirling around. "I'm gonna go get a soda. You have fun." I winked. "What? You're just gonna leave me with this?" "Sorry." I mouthed as I walked away.

I pulled a 7-up out of a cooler and opened it. "Hey there beautiful." I turned around to see a guy stumbling over to me. "Uh you're drunk bye." I said walking past him. "And where do you think you're going?" He chuckled grabbing my wrist.

"Hey let go of me!" I shouted trying to pull away. I lost and he pulled me close to him. "Stop get off of me!" I shouted again trying to push him off. "Shh it's okay." He whispered in my ear. His breathe reeked of alcohol.

Tears began filling my eyes. I want to go home. "Please just let me go." I sobbed struggling to get out of his grip.

"Hey! She said let go!" I heard a familiar voice shout. It was Matt. "Oh yea what're you gonna do about it?" The guy asked slurring his words. Next thing I knew, Matt punched him in the mouth. I gasped in shock.

The guy stood up, stumbling in the process. I ran away from the guy and into Matt. He put his arm around me and I guess I kinda held onto him. His body was warm and he smelt really good. No no Ryan stop. But I couldn't force myself to let go of him. I felt safe in his arms.

"You okay?" He asked and wiped the tears off of my face with his thumb. "Yea. I was just scared." I sniffled. "It's okay, you're okay now." He said pulling me into him again.

Alex was wrong. He's such a sweetheart. "Let's take you home." Matt said grabbing my hand and we walked back to the car.

"Thank you." I said breaking the silence in the car. "Of course. Beautiful girls shouldn't be treated like that. I had to teach him a lesson." He half smirked. I couldn't help but smile.

Matt pulled up in front of my house. "Believe it or not, I had a nice time tonight." I chuckled. "Me too." He smiled and looked over at me. My brown eyes met with his hazel ones.

He started to slowly lean in. Oh gosh what am I doing? I can't do this. Our faces were inches apart when my phone went off.

He bit his lip and sat back in his seat. I pulled out my phone and answered it.

"Hello?" "Where on earth are you?!?" It was my mom. "I was out with a friend, I'm out front now mom, chill." I rolled my eyes. Matt chuckled to himself.

"My mom is such a stress case." I said shaking my head. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I said again looking over at him. "Yea okay." He half smiled. I knew he was still expecting that kiss. I can't do it.

Honestly, I've never really had my first kiss and I want it to be special. "Thanks for the ride." I said climbing out of the car. "Anytime."

"Later Espinosa." I said walking backwards towards my house. He smiled. "Bye Ryan."
