Sage's pov

*Beep Beep Beep*

"Uggg" I groan as I roll over and snake a hand out from under my nice cocoon of warm blankets, to shut up my noisy and annoying alarm clock. After I turn the annoying thing off, I stay under my blankets for another fifteen minutes before getting up and starting my normal morning ritual.

"Sage you up little bro?" askes my older brother Ray as he opens my door making sure that I'm awake so that our father won't throw a fit about me still being in bed.

"Yeah I'm awake" I mumble as I rub my eyes sleepily with my hand as Ray opens my door complete with a smirk and walks over to the dark blue curtains in front of my windows, throwing them open with a flourish.

I growl as the bright harsh sunlight comes into my room, blinding me for a few seconds before glaring at my older brother that basically says fuck-you-asshole, which he ignores so I throw a pillow at him instead, but it misses as he dashes out of my room laughing like the lunatic he is.

"Jerk" growls Fen, my wolf, angrily since neither of us likes being woken up this early in the morning or having my idiot brother throw the damn curtains open.

"Agreed," I say as I get out of bed, trying not to trip on all the crap I have laying on my floor, making a beeline for the bathroom I have in my room to brush my teeth, comb my hair, and do my make-up.

Yes, I wear makeup but not the real heavy type every girl at my school wears making them look older and ugly. No, my makeup is basically black eyeliner and gold mascara that I put on the tips of my eyelashes to make my eyes stand out.

I look at my reflection in the mirror and I try to suppress the sigh I feel coming as I look at my freaky self. I have silverish looking hair mixed with some type of light brown or tan, pale skin from my years of my parents shutting me up in the house so that I didn't embarrass them, and very weird sky blue eyes that have a very light shade of yellow in them.

"I am such a freak," I think as I start brushing my teeth quickly not bothering to floss when I finish.

"No, you are not" my wolf "your mother and father just hate that you look better than you brothers "

I nearly gag on the mouthwash as my wolf says that, but thankfully I don't and I refrain from telling my wolf that my mother and father could care less how I look and more about how un-alpha wolf I am.

Without saying anything I finish in the bathroom and put on the first pair of any type of clothing I could grab and head downstairs to my very judgmental family, praying that today will end really quickly and without my dad yelling at me for something.

"WHAT THE HELL TOOK YOU SO LONG YOU WORTHLESS EXCUSE FOR A WOLF!!"

Well, there goes my hope for a peaceful morning.

-A few hours later at school-

What a crappy day this has been. I was late for three classes, got pushed into a locker by the fucking beta and his cronies, and had my dad yell and hit me with that damn cast iron pan mom uses to cook stuff with so I've had a splitting headache the entire day.

"Let's ditch school the rest of the day and run," my wolf says and I agree with him for once, I don't give a crap if my dad gets pissed because I skipped school, I'm not dealing with these assholes today.

-A few minutes later in the woods-

I walk into the thick lush forest near my school and begin to shift hearing the familiar sounds of my bones snapping and reshaping as I shift.

My father thinks I'm a worthless wolf since I'm not all Alpha like him my older brothers, but at least I'm strong enough to shift with my clothes on and not destroy them as they do.

After shifting into my wolf form, I just run wherever I feel like it since I don't care about today, and just want to be left alone with my wolf. I run around in the woods for a few hours, I can tell by the position of the sun.

Stopping to rest near a lake I catch a scent I haven't smelled before and I turn to see an all-black wolf with green eyes nearby watching me. I growl in warning telling him to leave me alone as I stand up and leave, not caring if the all-black wolf is trespassing on my family's territory since I don't care about.

After I get close to home, I shift back to human form and run up the stairs to my room as my dad begins to yell at me for skipping school and getting home late, but I don't care.

I flop on my bed looking at the calendar near me realizing tomorrow I turn 18.

"Oh great," I think wearily "we get to meet our mate tomorrow let's hope whoever they might be will like us and won't reject us."

"I hope they won't" my wolf whimpers "I hope they love us and care about more than this family does"

"Me too," I say back wearily as sleep begins to close on me and strangely images of the black wolf with green eyes begin to invade my thoughts and, "I think why can't he be my mate?" before falling asleep dreading tomorrow.
