chapter twenty six blind dates ⎯⎯⎯⎯
"This place is skeevy." Aria let out as the girls met up at the store where Spencer had pawned Melissa's wedding ring, who was inside getting it back. "She pawned her sister's wedding ring you're not gonna go to Tiffany's." Josie said as she crossed her arms over her chest. "So...Wren and Melissa? Weird, right?" Emily said, walking up to the girls after she had looked around the alleyway. "Weird right?" Hanna asked.
"Could you tell what he gave her?" Emily asked, with crossed arms. "No. She didn't seem happy about it." Aria answered with a shake of her head. "I wonder if Ian will be." Hanna wondered, making Aria sigh, before turning to Emily. "How you holding' up?" she asked. "Great. Ever since I got that fake scholarship letter, my mom thinks I can do no wrong. I'm living a lie I didn't even tell." Emily said, making Josie frown. "Leave it to "A" to make you feel bad about your mom feeling good." she said. A few moments later Spencer walked out of the pawn shop, apparently Melissa's ring was gone. "I can't believe that it's gone." Spencer said frustrated.
"At least you got your money back." Josie said, trying to be positive, but she knew in this situation, positivity wasn't gonna be a thing. "Am I supposed to give her this?" Spencer said as she held up a horseshoe, making the girls sigh. "I stole it... actually stole my sister's wedding ring!" Spencer said as she let out a humourless laugh as their cell phones rang.

The girls started looking around, trying to see if someone was watching them when Spencer caught sight of a poster on the wall, making the other girls follow her eye line, to see a poster, saying 'SOMEONE'S WATCHING YOU. SO LOOK YOUR BEST'

"I'm going this afternoon, right after school." Spencer informed Hanna, Emily, Aria and Josie as they walked out of class. "Are you sure that's safe?" Emily asked as Spencer shook her head. "No." she said just before Aria's mom called out for her, making the girls stop as they stared at her. "Hey," Aria said as she looked at her mom. "Uh, can I talk to you for a second?" she asked. "We were...we were just saying goodbye." Aria stammered, referring to the girls."Yeah, that's not what I want to talk to you about." Ella said to her. "Oh" Aria said as gave the girls a look and they walked away, leaving the mother and daughter to talk.

"How does it feel to be a cheerleader now Jo?" Richie asked as they walked the hallway, she was getting her uniform after lunch. "Eh, it's not my thing but it's fun i guess," she answered as they say at the tables outside. "I'm sure you'll be okay," he said, trying to reassure her. "I know it's just–just...i don't know," she stuttered as she leaned into Richie, causing him to pull her into a hug.
"Have you made any progress finding out anything about your half-brother?" he asked and she shook her head. "My dad's not answering my calls so he isn't any help, apparently he doesn't know a thing about his other kid–his son, but I call bullshit," she said as she stabbed the fruit she had for lunch. "You'll find him, I know you will." Richie said with a smile.

Later that night, Josie was on the phone to spencer. "Okay, so, if Ian's not next door, where is he?" Josie asked as she laid in her bed. "And where's he going?" Spencer said over the phone. "And why is Melissa going with him?" Josie questioned. "right. things don't usually work out well for the wives of murderers." Spencer said. "Do you...do you think that he'd hurt her?" Josie asked hesitantly. "I don't know. I wish I could just come stay over at your house." Spencer said with a sigh making Josie sigh as well.
"Me too. My moms at work so I'm home alone with the doors locked, and I'm creeped out." Josie complained as she sunk more into her bed as she heard a car approaching on Spencer's side of the call. "I gotta go. My parents are here." she said, making Josie nod, even though Spencer couldn't see her. "Okay. bye Spence," Josie said before hanging. Josie looked at her ceiling, looking at the old glow-in-dark stars, making her sigh before she rolled over.

The next night, Josie was watching a movie in her room when she got an S.O.S from Spencer, glad her mother wasn't home. Spencer had picked her up along with Emily, Hanna and Aria. "Do we have a plan?" Hanna asked from the backseat. "Working on it." Spencer said as she drove, following Melissa discreetly. "Should we call Garrett, tell him about Ian?" Emily asked as Josie shook her head. "No." she answered. "The last thing we need to do is get him involved in another mystery we can't explain." she added.
"Because that's what happens when we're the girls who cried wolf." Hanna said with a scoff. "I mean, don't you get it? We're screwed." she added."They're stopping." Aria said as she leaned forward and looked over the front window as Spencer parked the car, turning the headlights off so no one noticed. They watched as Wren and Melissa walked out of the car as the girls got out of Spencer's car as well.
"There's no turning back now, right?" Spencer asked as she looked back at her friends before they walked further to get a closer look if Ian walked out of the building. "I've got 9-1-1 on speed-dial." Aria said, making Josie nod, that was a good, back up plan. "I've only got one bar." Hanna said as she held her phone up in the air. "Oh, crap. No bars." she corrected. "We should take a photo of Ian, prove we haven't been making this all up." Emily said, making Hanna scoff. "Yeah, well, you go ahead and do that while I try not to get killed." she said sarcastically, making the girls look at her, making her sigh. "Sorry." she mumbled. "I'm just worried about Melissa. Who knows what Ian's thinking?" Spencer said as the five of them walked through bushes to get closer.
"Or if he has a gun." Aria added, making Spencer turn to her. "He's the bad guy, right?" Aria asked before they continued walking till they were close enough, now they just had to wait, as they watched Wren and Melisas talking outside then Melissa went inside as Wren waited outside. The girls slowly creeped out of hiding just as Melissa screams. "Melissa!" Spencer screams as she ran full speed into the building, the girls following her.
Once the girls got into the building they heard Melissa sobbing, they soon found her being held by Wren as she sobbed. The girls gasped as they saw Ian's dead body. Melissa turned to see Spencer, confused why she was there but fell into her younger sister's arms anyway as Spencer held her and the only sound any of them could hear was her sobbing making Josie turn away. Ian was really dead now.
