Author's Note: This chapter is based off a pillow on my bed that has two bunnies with long legs and tails, the name bunnybirds came from the fact that there are multiple birds also on the pillow so yeah, now to the story.

I sprinted through the dark woods. Looking over my shoulder very few paces watching the monsters that seemed to get closer every time I looked back. The creatures following me were called bunnybirds by most people because of the strong resemblance to both of the species. Even though the creatures namesakes were both rather small this was quite the contrary when it came to bunnybirds, who stood at a whopping 9 feet. They had the body of a bunny however the feathery tail resembled a bird, so did the long legs with the talons of a bird. However they did have one thing that resembled neither, this  being the sharp teeth pointing out of their long muzzles. Anyway enough about the bunnybirds you're probably wondering what I was doing out there. You see I wanted to head out to the dark forest to collect some herbs for the witch I am the apprentice of. Of course I was not expecting to be ambushed by the large creatures. I had read in a book that sunlight pained the creatures so I was making my way to village to get out into the fresh air. However my plan was not going as expected, I had strayed rather far from the village in search of the rare herbs so it was taking me quite long to get back. This meant I was getting exhausted from the running and was starting to slow down. This wasn't good for me because the monsters were starting to catch up to me. The squirrel perched on my shoulder squeaked meaning the creatures were most likely gaining ground on us. (Author's Note: The squirrel is based off a ornament I have sitting on my desk btw his name is quail, since she's a witches apprentice he's her familiar). I ran quicker and managed to sprint across the log that went over the river. I was hoping that it wouldn't be able to hold the monster's weight. My hope was correct as the monster went crashing through into the frigid water with a odd sound scream of shock it sounded like when all the birds on a tree fly away mixed with a more scraping sound. But to make this situation even more guess what? These terrible things can swim! I'm not alright but oh well. I immediately saw this and started sprinting again going as fast as my legs would take me. That is until I made it to a meadow. I ran out of the dark forest as light returned to the world. I pushed past a few branches and ran up a porch to a small wooden cabin. I dashed in through the door, slamming it behind me as I fell down against the door gasping for air as I breathed heavily. Suddenly I heard footsteps coming my way.
