Reagan huffed as she walked through the streets. Today wasn't the greatest day. Rand decided to place all these projects and she had the last week doing all of them. However her team, being completely fucking idiots they were, they somehow come in and destroy half of the them in minutes. Brett stayed with her as she tried to fix them but she was too annoyed to listen to him talking.

What's worse is that her car was in the mechanics and she had to walk to work. She usually didn't mind but today it was pouring. She has an umbrella but it only did so much to protect her.

'Ugh.. I might pop a beer or something. Fuck.. everything is terrible." Reagan thought as she brought her keys out. Her house was just minutes away.

Reagan passed by a nearby house when she heard something from the neighbors trash can. She didn't think much of it but then she heard scratching.

"Huh.. weird.." Part of her wanted to just go home but another part of her wanted to know what it. She stepped over to the trash can and opened the lid. While there was very little trash, there in the middle laid a black cat. It had blue and green eyes.

"Hey little guy." Reagan said as her hand cautionary went down to pet the cat. A part of her didn't want to scratch in the eye again. That really hurted and it took days to heal.

The cat got up and rubbed itself on her hand. Reagan smiles and she helps the cat out of the trash can.

"Alright, cya little buddy." She said as she placed the cat on the sidewalk. She walks to her home and up the stairs. Unlocking the door, Reagan throws her lab coat on the floor and changes.

However while putting her shirt on. Reagan hears something crash from the living room. Her eyes widened.

"Ah shit, please don't tell me that someone broke in." Reagan mumbled. She rushed downstairs with one of her inventions to defend herself. Upon inspection, a vase she had had fallen from the stand.

"Huh.. weird.." Reagan thought but groaned. She turned around to get a broom when she found the culprit. "What the- How did you get inside?!"

There stood the black cat she met earlier. It meowed and walked up to her, rubbing its body against her leg.

"Look, You can't stay here. My dad would- Reagan stopped. She never bothered to get a pet after killing her turtles. Her dad mocked her and she still remembers the words to this day. She still remembers hearing those gunshots

"Sorry but- uh" Reagan sighed as she led the cat to the door. "You can't stay here. Sorry" She quickly opens, shoves the cat out, and closes the door.

'That felt really shitty' Reagan thought as she cleaned the vase. She emptied the dustbin before scratching could be heard. She tried to ignore it before the meowing start.

'No, Reagan you would be a horrible owner. Remember those turtles!.... But it's raining.. I can't leave it out there' Reagan's mind argues whether to let it in or not. The scratching stops, but not before Reagan hears meowing from the window. The cat was on the ledge soaking wet pawing the glass. She sighs.

"Alright, fine. You can stay." Reagan finally decided she opened the window. The cat flies in, shaking the water off its fur. She couldn't help but smile

"I'll find you something to eat. Do I have anything to feed a cat..?" Reagan mumbled as she opened the fridge. Cats eat fish right? She grabbed the can of tuna. Then she made dinner, an instant meal and beer before returning to the living room and setting the food down. The cat jumped onto the table and began to eat the canned fish.

"Well.. guess one less dish to waste to wash." She turns the TV on. Nothing particularly interesting as she ate dinner and surfs through channels. The cat seemed to have finished the tuna and jumped to the sofa. It laid its head on her thigh.

"Well.. I guess you need a name." Reagan said after a sip of beer. Her dinner was basically done and she shut the tv off, feeling she wasn't going to watch anything. She picks the cat up.

"Alright.. you're a guy.. okay.. uh.." Reagan looked around, thinking of what to name the male cat. She didn't like Shadow.. or Darkness.. despite it being the only names coming in mind. The rain made itself apparent as it hits the window harder. Reagan's face lit up at an idea.

"Rain." Reagan said before thinking. "With an E at the end. Yeah. That sounds better."

Raine purred and Reagan smiled as she laid on the sofa. She could clean the mess from dinner in the morning. Right now, she wanted to sleep after the hectic day and obtaining a new pet. She grabbed the blanket that was on the floor and laid it on top
Of her. Raine snuggled beside her, curling up before falling asleep.

"Don't fuck this Reagan." She thought as she sleepily reached to pet Raine. "Keep him alive... and.. love him.. and.."

Reagan falls asleep as the cat purrs quietly to the rain.
