Later that night Adelle grabbed a bag and packed some clothes and a dagger that she had stolen from one of the knights once (sneaky little thief xD). She then tied some clothes together to make a sort if rope that she tied to her bed and hung out her window. There was patrol outside but they weren't as good at their job as the guards inside the palace. Don't get me wrong, you could still get caught but the chances of it happening where much slimmer than if you went through the palace halls. Adelle walked to the open window "ok,you got this". She grabbed hold of the makes rope and slid down until her feet hit the soft grass. She looked around, making sure that no one had seen her before sneaking to the weaponry where she found a light sword and strapped it to her belt that she had put on before escaping her room. "This might come in handy". Adelle opened the door, peeking out and let out a reliefed sigh that no one was there. Then she made her way to the stables. The princess grabbed a bridle before she heard footsteps coming her way. She had to hide, and fast. Luckily she spotted a big pile of hay and hid behind it. She held her hand in front of her mouth to quiet her breathing. The footsteps stopped in front of adelles hiding spot "I tell you,I saw something here!" A voice said "you see a lot of stuff,I wouldn't be surprised if you started seeing ghosts" a second voice said "come on lets go, we don't want to get into trouble" soon the footsteps faded away. Adelle let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She got out of her hiding spot and walked to her horse "hey Angus, lets run away from here what do you say?" The shire looked at her with happy eyes. Adelle quickly saddled and bridled him. The princess had to climb onto a box to reach his back but still couldn't get on. "Hey, a little help here?" She asked. Angus lifted his front leg for her as a step " thank you" Adelle climbed onto him and patted his neck "alright boy, let's go". With that they where off. Angus galloped down the hall and through the gates, the guards never knowing what ran past them. The wind blew through Adelles hair brought a smile to her face. Angus' hooves sounded like thunder as he raced over the hills and meadows. Adelle had missed this: the speed, the freedom, the feeling of the wind in her hair and her horse's muscles moving underneath her as it ran, nothing being able to hold it back. Angus was now at a slow and steady trot. Adelle slowed him to a walk as the huge giants appeared before them, snow glittering on their slopes and clouds decorating their tips as they displayed their beauty: The mountains of surgea. They seemed so much smaller from a distance but now you could see their true height, they where enormous. "Well bud, looks like this will be a long way up" Angus huffed as if to say "nope I am not going up there". "I know but we'll take breaks, promise" the shire nodded and began walking again. After multiple breaks, they had reached the forest of the mountains "we will stay here, there is enough foliage to give us coverage from storms and there are enough resources for us to survive. There even is a spring near here!" They walked a bit further and found a cave " let's set up camp here."
