The morning room at Netherfield. Mr. Bingley, Jane, Elizabeth, and Mr. Darcy are present.)
Mr. Bingley: (happily) What a splendid ball we had last night! I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed myself so thoroughly.
Jane: (smiling) Yes, it was lovely.
Elizabeth: (smiling wryly) I am glad you enjoyed yourself, Mr. Bingley. You were certainly in high spirits.
Mr. Bingley: (beaming) How could I not be, Miss Elizabeth? I was surrounded by the most charming ladies in the county!
Mr. Darcy: (smiling slightly) Indeed, it was a delightful evening.
Elizabeth: (studying Mr. Darcy) You seem more at ease this morning, Mr. Darcy.
Mr. Darcy: (pausing) Yes, Miss Elizabeth. I must confess, I found last night's ball rather overwhelming.
Elizabeth: (nodding) I can understand that. It was quite crowded.
Mr. Darcy: (studying Elizabeth) And yet, despite the crowds and the noise, I found myself drawn to your company.
Elizabeth: (surprised) My company?
Mr. Darcy: (nodding) Yes, Miss Elizabeth. I found your wit and intelligence to be quite refreshing.
Elizabeth: (smiling) Thank you, Mr. Darcy. I am flattered.
Jane: (looking at Elizabeth with concern) Lizzy, are you feeling well? You look a little flushed.
Elizabeth: (brushing it off) I am quite all right, Jane. Do not worry about me.
Mr. Bingley: (smiling) Well, I for one am glad that we will all have the opportunity to spend more time together. I have invited a few friends to join us for dinner tonight.
Elizabeth: (smiling) That sounds lovely.
Mr. Darcy: (nodding) Yes, it should be an enjoyable evening.
Jane: (smiling at Mr. Bingley) Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Bingley.
Mr. Bingley: (grinning) It is my pleasure, Miss Bennet.
