The light in his Eyes

Chapter 1

I practically ran through the hallways attempting to get to the Sorting Ceremony on time. Ty already got there. I told him I would take 15 minutes max in the shower, now, 45 minutes later i'm sprinting though the hallways, dodging ghosts for walking through them made them uncomfortable.

I barged through the huge oak doors of the great hall, and made me way around the outsides of the tables, and stood in the back of the line behind my brother.

"What took you so long" he hissed as a student was sorted into Hufflepuff.

"i'm sorry I lost track of time" I innocently replied, making him roll his eyes. "what house do you think we'll get sorted into?"

Ty gives me a look that I know means 'really?'
"Y/n, given the circumstances with our dad, i'm going to say you already know the answer"

I stifle a laugh as the whole hall went silent as the student in front of Ty was called up to get sorted. I squeeze his hand, nervous to go up.

He squeezes my hand back and whispers, "it'll be ok." as the kid was sorted into Ravenclaw.

"Ty Arrington!" Professor Weasley called over the crowd. Ty dropped my hand and proudly strode up to the Stool. I heard people muttering about how we were starting as 5th years. I ignored their comments and watched as the Sorting Hat muttered to itself.

After a few moment of dead silence, the sorting hat screamed "SLITHERIN!!!"

I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding and stood shaking as Ty proudly walked over to the Slytherin table, getting a few pats on the back from the students.

"YN Arrington!" Professor Weasley called. I wiped a bead of sweat off my forehead and slowly walked up to the stool. When I turned to sit down, my eyes locked with a boy standing in the corner of the great hall. He was to far away to make out any details. All I could see was that his hair was dark and messy. He was wearing a Slytherin robe, leaving against the wall with his arms crossed. I made a mental note to not get close to him as Professor Weasley sat the old hat on my head.

"ohh" it said right away "I see a lot in you"

I shifted in my seat as it muttered.

"Yess.. hmm. You've got ambition. But your oh so very brave. Perhaps Gryffindor??"

My eyes widened in panic at the thought of being separated from my brother.

"Oh but I see something very dark brewing in you" the hat said.

The great hall went silent as the hat got ready to scream my house name. I moved my eyes to the corner where the boy was standing. He's not leaving on the Slytherin table, watching intently as the hat decided my fate.

The hat took a deep breath and screamed "SLYTHERIN!!"

The great hall cheered and clapped, it mostly coming from the Slytherin table. Professor Weasley removed the jay from my head as my robes turned green. I ran over to Ty and have him a bear hug.

"we didn't get separated!!!" I say excitedly as tears streamed down my face.

As Ty hugs me back, laughing at me, I look up
so see that the boy is non-existent. I pull away from Ty and look around, but I don't see him anywhere. I turn to Ty and say "Ty i'm really tired I think i'm just goi to go to bed"

Ty turns around to look at me with food stuffed into his mouth. "Ok yn, i'll be fere after I finifh eating"

I giggle and turn around to walk out. After pushing the oak doors closed behind me I head a male voice.

"Leaving the party so soon? How sad"

I spin around to see the boy from the corner. I can make out more details now. His face was splashed in freckles, his eyes a light emerald green. His hair was light brown and untamed. His teeth perfectly white. His voice was deep and light at the same time.

"Now now Sebastian, leave the new students alone" I hear another voice say. I break my eyes away from Sebastian and look at the new boy. He had his wand out, a red light emitting from the end. He was also wearing the green robes of Slytherin. He has perfectly fixed blonde hair. The part that stood out to me most was his eyes. They were a very light blue, but looked glassed over. He was blind, I concluded.

"Come on Ominis I'm just trying to have a little fun" Sebastian says, looking me up and down.

"I said leave the new kids alone" Ominis said in his particular direction. "your yn Arrington right?" He said, turning back in my direction.

"Yes.. who are you?" I replied sheepishly.

"My name is Ominis Gaunt. And this imbecile is Sebastian Sallow." Ominis says as Sebastian sputters.

"I'm not an imbecile" he decides on saying.

The oak doors open to reveal Ty standing there, looking confused.

"Whats happening" he says loudly, his voice echoing off the walls.

I look over nearly snorting about how bad he looks standing next to Sebastian and Ominis. Ty has really messy blondehair, with dirt smudged all over his face. His clothes underneath his robe are mud smudged and torn. His piercing blue eyes are always scanning his surroundings, always the first one aware of something goes wrong.

"Nothing, we were just showing yn to the common room, care to join us?" Ominis kindly says while Sebastian sighs and rolls his eyes.

"If you don't want to come you could always go back to Zenobia. I'm sure she'll be more than happy to have your di-" Ominis starts to say before Sebastian cuts him off.

"I'm going with you guys" He says.

My face turns red at what Ominis said. My stomach dropped at the same time. Have his what..? I thought. I shouldn't feel this way, I don't even know the guy. I glance behind me and see Sebastian staring at me. I whip my head back around and speed walk up to Ty as I clench his arm.
