Soon enough the news reached her dad, and instead of being happy for his daughter they scolded her. "Do you really think singing can get you money? that was just some dumb luck, you and your friend got. You'll never be anything if you keep on singing, because it's not a real job!" Her dad yelled at her. She was sobbing and on her knees, she couldn't face her own father. "THAT'S ENOUGH, i can't see you yell at my child, i don't know who you are anymore, Declan i thought i got myself a good man, but i was wrong, i was wrong to ever think you loved this family, when you can't even support you daughter, i'm filing a divorce!" Mary said with disappointment in her eyes. "don't you worry my song bird, you're coming with me, I'll never let you be with this man.." After that day, Devora lost her touch with singing, she moved to her mom's home town, which means she had to change schools and separate from Arthur. She was depressed and stayed in bed for months. "Honey, I heard a talent show is happening this week, do you wanna join in?" "NO MOM, leave me alone please.." Devora screamed. Mary couldn't see her own daughter in this state, so she reluctantly called Arthur's family, and asked if he could stay with them for a few months. Then a few days passed and Devora looked better than before to say the least, she was cheery and happier, but she wouldn't get back into singing, she even hated her nickname being 'songbird'. "my dear song bird, please, your voice is a gift, you shouldn't waste it because of what your dad said.." her mom begged. "I'm sorry mom but dad was right, i'll never get anywhere with singing.." Suddenly Arthur came in the room and played the video of their show that night, "Look Dev, that's your voice, that's you, and your dad was wrong, you can be a superstar singer, whatever you name it, you can. Just don't give up for me, please.." said Arthur assuringly. Then Devora had no choice but to reluctantly agree. "Fine, I'll sign up for the next talent show.." The next following days Devora practiced and practiced. And when the talent show day arrived, she was more than ready to perform. She got onto the stage feeling kind of nervous but she was determined to win this talent show. She took the mic and began singing, the audience loved her voice and so did the judges. After her performance, she went backstage to where Arthur was already standing. "you did great Dev, and you looked so-" he didn't get to finish and the mc said "AALRIGHT, ladies and gentleman, we've seen all the performances now it's time to reveal the winners!!" "Oh I gotta go up to reveal the winners, see ya!" said Devora as she skipped off to the stage. "third placeee we haaveee..." the mc said with a drumroll. "Valerie the dancer! Congratulations for winning third place!" The audience applauded for her as the mc gave her a check. "Now winning second place for quite the prize is.." Devora clenched her hands together nervously, whether she is going to get it or not. "Devora the singer! congrats soon to be superstar!" Her jaw dropped "Wait seriously? OMGG!!" Devora shreeked happily. As the mc gave her the check prize of $200, Her heart skipped a beat. "Thank you so much!!" "You're welcome dear, you really deserve this, your voice is amazing!" After the talent show Devora went home with a bright smile, and Arthur could tell her heart was still pumping hard. When they got home, Devora gave Arthur a big bear hug as a thank you for supporting her, Arthur's cheeks turned red. "Oh yea, what were you gonna say to me backstage earlier?" asked Devora, "Oh uhm, nevermind that.." "Well then, let's celebrate with a treat, come on!" Arthur couldn't tell her how he felt, but he was glad he could help her get her spark of music back.
