"You didn't save me Tobias. The only reason I tripped is because you grabbed me like some sort of psychopath."

"I didn't want you to scream and draw attention to us."

"Wrong way to do it." I rolled my eyes as he finally reached the dirt track leading up to my house. He had definitely taken the longest route home. I wasn't stupid. "Also, who walks around with a fucking sword if you're just a simple farm hand?"

"Me." He raised an eyebrow. "I know it's not exactly the safest time for you ladies around here." I scoffed at him, making it clear how I felt about him swooping in as a protector of some kind. "What? It isn't."

"Yeah like you and one sword would make a difference."

"Like you and a sword would." I snarled. "So you wouldn't let me try to protect you if someone came for you say in the woods?"

"I don't need a man to protect me." I stared at him as he stopped in the middle of the track. "I can do it myself."

"I highly doubt that." A small laugh left his lips.

"I can."

"Sure, whatever you say princess."

"Stop calling me that."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not a princess." I rolled my eyes and he started walking, a lot slower now than he had been. "Wait until my ankle is healed, come over and watch me obliterate you." The smirk returned to his face as I let go of him and knocked on my door. No answer. "You can put me down here."

"Not until I know your father has you." I groaned, reaching up and grabbing the key from the door frame top and unlocking the door, pushing it so he could step in. "Nice home you guys have here."

"Thanks. Now put me down."

"Hmm." I raised my eyebrows.

"I'm not afraid to bite you again and I'll make sure I draw blood this time."

"You wouldn't."

"Oh would I not? You say you know my dad right? You really think he'd raise a girl who wouldn't dare to make a man bleed?" A light shone in his eyes, sparkling like starlight as he moved and carefully sat me on the table.

"Where would he keep bandages or anything?"

"I'm fine."

"I'll start rummaging if you don't just tell me Wren." I rolled my eyes, pointing to a tall cupboard behind me. Looking down at my foot, it wasn't half as bad as he was making it out to be. I reckon a week and I'll be fine. I would have to stay off it as much as possible though. Now was not the time. "See was that so hard?" He sat down on the bench by my feet, pulling out the damaged one and beginning to wrap it so I had to keep it still until it healed

"Excruciatingly." I sighed, rolling my eyes.

"You know a lot of big words, do you read?"

"What gave you that impression?" He looked around at the piles of books, littered through the entire house.

"Just an instinct. Not many girls around here can even read. You know that right?"

"Not many girls have my parents." He chuckled, nodding his head. "So why did you move here from Thymeside? I thought Thymeside was the place to be?"

"Yeah, if you want stuck up rich girls falling at your feet."

"Oh you'd rather a poor woodsman's daughter calling you a psychopath?"
