-Rayne's pov-
I was lost in thought of everything around me. I walk into a alleyway as I continue to look around every nook and crany. I stop in my tracks and see a backdoor that looked like it was gonna fall off the henges if one were to move it a certain way. But that's when a familiar smell hit. Making me give the door a closer look. Something was telling me to go inside. To look around.
I look both ways to make sure no one was watching me. For all I know the place could be abandoned and squatters could be inside waiting for they're next victim. I close my eyes and take a deep breath, getting hit with the familiar whiff again, stronger this time. I push back any thoughts and carefully made my way inside. I make sure to watch my footing as I walked further inside. The place was a mess, dark, and damp.
When I make it out of what looked like the kitchen/ freezer area. I open to the door to the front of the building, my eyes widened at the sight of everything around me. This was the Boy's and Grills restaurant. Where.... where he and I worked... My eyes then caught attention at the red counter, and towards the end of it laid a red apron that looks like it's been there for sometime. I walk nervously over to it. My fingers running across the stitching of the Boy's and Grills logo.
I hesitantly pick it up and bring it to my face, giving it a whiff. I look at it, holding it close as I felt tears start to prick from the corners of my eyes. It smells like him.... but how...? He's... he's dead... he died in front of me... then I was taken away... How is this possible? I then hear the sound of someone walking and I quickly turn around, blinking my tears away.
"L... Lila...?" I ask as she walked over to me, just as surprised. She then engulfed me in a hug, the apron still in my hands. "It is you Rayne, oh my god!!" I hesitantly hug her back. She then pulls away and takes my hands. "What are you doing in here...? If you don't mind me asking.." I look at her, as I rubbed the back of my head. I gripped the apron. "I... I wanted to just come back and look around. After all I did use to work here and all..."
Lila looked at me and nodded. It's been so long, and everything is flooding in all at once to the point of it all being overwhelming. I set the apron down, looking at it once more. The apron was his size... and it smells just like him. What's going on?
"Hello, earth to Rayne. Anyone home?" I snap out of my thoughts and flinch violently when I noticed Lila waving her hand in my face. "Whoa are you alright? You look pale..." She said worriedly. Funny how she says I look pale when everyone in this town looks like they don't go out. "Y... yea I'm fine, sorry. I guess I'm just lost in thought. Finally being back after so long..."
Lila nods understanding what I meant. "You know, Kevin and Streber have been very worried about you. Wait till they know that you're back. I was just on my way to see Kevin now. Please come join me." I take a deep breath. The last time I saw Kevin and Streber was the night before Halloween. The night before everything came crashing down in front of me. I look at Lila and nod, to which made her engulf me in another hug and giggled.
This time I just stood there. I'm a walking lie... morphed into what people think they know me by. My name is Rayne Williams and I am 26 yes, but.... everything else is a lie. And it's best they never know the Real Me. No matter the cost. Lila then let's me go and takes my hand softly as she leads me out of the building. I take one last glance at the apron, before turning my back completely and walk away with Lila to meet Kevin and Streber. This could either go really well... or they question me and find out everything. I have to keep the facade up. Even if it ends up killing me as well...
