Chapter 51: The first match of the Finals Begin!

The sound of cheering from the large crowd of people watching the matches could be heard throughout the arena.

"You guys are the heroes of this final competition," Genma said.

Kei's attention was drawn to the area where the third Hokage was sitting. However, her focus was on the person walking over toward the Hokage. It's the Kazekage, but something about the man who knew I was leaving the village seemed off.

'His chakra signature feels different. Yet something is familiar about it.' She thought as she narrowed her eyes in concentration as she studied the Kazekage.

"Welcome all, and our deepest thanks, for coming here to the Hidden Leaf Village," The third Hokage said loudly, pulling Kei's attention off the Kazekage."For this year's Chunin Selection. We have come to the final competition between the fourteen candidates who made it through the preliminaries. We ask that no one leaves until all the matches have been completed. Now everyone enjoy!"

"You said fourteen candidates," The Kazekage said."Arent, you are missing one? There are only thirteen here."

The third Hokage, however, remained silent as he glanced down at the candidates in the arena.

"Oh, there is one more thing before we get started," Genma said, holding up a piece of paper with a tournament style of the matches."There has been a slight change in the matchups, but now it is set. So everyone, take one last look at who you will be facing."

Kei studied the paper and saw that Kaito's match was supposed to be right after Sasuke and Gaara's.

"Uh, question," Naruto suddenly asked with his hand up.

"What is it?" Genma asked, putting the paper away.

"I was just wondering what will happen to Sasuke?" Naruto asked."I mean, if he doesn't show up."

"If a candidate is not here in the arena at the time their name is called," Genma started to explain."They forfeit the match."

Naruto swallowed nervously and glanced back at the entrance looking for Sasuke.

'I'm positive that Sasuke is going to be here. He wouldn't miss his match, especially not with a formidable opponent like Gaara.'Kei thought, looking over at her best friend, Gaara.

"Alright, listen up. The terrains are different, but the rules are the same as before," Genma explained."That is that there are no rules. The match continues until one candidate acknowledges defeat or dies."

Kei nodded her understanding that the match rules were going to be the same as the similar to the other matches to get to the finals.

"That being said, if I determine that a match is over," Genma continued after a pause."I can step in and stop it at any time, and no arguments are permitted, understand?"

Everyone remained silent in the understanding of the rules, and no arguing if he ended the match at any time.

"These are the opponents for the first match. Naruto Uzumaki vs. Neji Hyuga!" Genma announced." Only those two stay, and the rest of you go to the waiting area."

"Whatever you say, Genma," Kei said, walking off toward the waiting area.

"Good to see you made it to the final matches, kid," Genma said, "Anko mentioned you have been off lately, but you seem the same to me."

"She just annoyed I haven't been around lately until late after dinner," Kei explained.

Ganma nodded his understanding as he watched Kei walk toward the stairs with the rest of the other candidates who weren't fighting their matches yet. He then notices her turn around and glances back at Naruto.

"Good luck out there, Naruto!" Lei called out to her blonde knucklehead friend.

"Thanks, Kei, and I will win this match; believe it!" Naruto exclaimed with thumbs up.

'He is such a huge energetic knucklehead, but even so, he is pretty good-looking with his blue eyes. I once believed that I would marry Gaara before I moved here. Of course, and met Naruto Uzumaki, the biggest knucklehead ninja I ever met.' She thought as she walked up the steps and stood next to Akira and Kaito as they watched Naruto and Neji on the field, both ready to fight.

"You got anything to say to me?" Neji asked with a glare on his face.

Naruto then held out his fist in front of him.

"Huh?" Kei questioned."What is he holding out his fist for?" She asked.

"He made some vow to beat him after Neji attempted to kill Hinata. You were in the hospital during that, of course," Akira explained.

"Oh," Kei said in understanding.

"Only what I told you the last time," Naruto replied, fist-shaking and eyes as well in rage.

'That Naruto for you always caring for others. He is such a caring person.' Kei thought, a smile reaching her face.

"I vow to win!" Naruto declared, glaring at Neji in determination.

"You have a crush on Naruto," Kaito suddenly said."You smile at every little thing he does."

"I don't see why she does so much; what a drag," The family voice of Shikamaru said from behind Kei, making her turn around.

"Shikamaru, don't tell me you are jealous of Naruto getting Kei's attention," Kaito mocked with a smirk.

"I doubt it; Kaito Shikamaru to lazy to be in love," Akria commented.

"I'm not jealous females are a drag," Shikamaru said."I don't see how a quiet one like her can love a loud knucklehead, such a drag."

"I'm going to let the insult to females slide only because you everything a drag," Kei stated as she focused attention on the match between Naruto and Neji.

"I can't wait to see the look on your face when you realize your foolish vow is impossible to keep," Neji said.

"Are we gonna stand here talking all day?" Naruto asked, annoyed.

A large gust of wind and dust swirls around them, signaling for an intense match to come from these two.

"Alright, now let the first match begin!" Genma commanded, making everyone cheer with excitement.
