INSECURITIES

I was feeling suffocated, the lump in my throat did not seem to release. With my trembling hands, I held the sides of the basin supporting my frame. It was overwhelming and I felt like I was breaking apart. It felt like all my imperfections buried my confidence. I couldn't bring myself to face the problem, indeed a coward who is running away from all my problems.

Today, my emotions got the best of me and I am held in the clutches of it. Looking into the mirror I stared at my messed-up state. My black locks are all over my face which are now drenched from my tears. Tears made their way down my cheeks uncontrollably as I tried to get myself together.

Turning on the faucet, I washed all my tears away. The tears were stubborn and my actions grew aggressive. After a few seconds, I paused my actions and stared at my reflection in the mirror. My face had turned pinkish-red, with bloodshot eyes and dried tears could be seen imprinted on my pale skin. Just when I was about to break down again, I heard the front door open.

"Sweetie, I am home!" His cheerful sweet voice brought an unconscious smile to my face.

"Are you in there, sweetie?" This time he asked softly as his voice expressed concern after not getting any response from me.

Taking a deep breath and burying my overwhelmed thoughts, I slowly yet cautiously stepped out of the bathroom pretending to be fine. Not able to meet his eyes, I hung my head low staring at my feet.

I could hear slow footsteps approaching me, still refusing to meet his gaze. I continued to stare at my feet hoping he would not notice my unusual behaviour. I felt the footsteps take a pace and in no time I felt myself being backed against the wall while a pair of sweet lips met mine.

His actions were so gentle as he pulled me into a sloppy yet passionate kiss. When he felt that I didn't respond, his kisses grew intense. He tugged my lower lip with his thumb deepening the kiss. I protested at first knowing that I would break down at any time if I don't stop him now.

Gripping my hands firmly yet not hurting me, he intertwined them as his kisses grew a little rough. His tall frame towering over mine, hands being interviewed, he continued to show no mercy on my lips.

Pulling away, he rested his forehead on mine, leaving no gap in between our bodies as he pressed himself onto me.

He had his eyes closed as he breathed,

"You can't hide anything from me, bun."

"I know you very well."

I felt my tears betraying me as I let out a shaky breath.

"What's the matter, sweetie?" He cooed as his eyes fluttered open when he felt my tears drop on his cheeks.

His hand gently cupped my cheeks making me face him. The moment his eyes met mine, he got worried as his eyes gleamed with affection and concern. He had never seen me like this. The girl who always had a cheerful smile on, who is known for her boldness, his comfort zone, and his happiness is now crying in his arms. His eyes glistened seeing his girlfriend in this state.

Carrying her to bed, he made her sit on the edge of the bed whilst he knelt down placing his hands on her thighs.

"What's wrong sweetie?" He muttered, placing his hand on her chin and lifting it to face him.

Choking on her tears she said,

"I am so w-weak baby, I feel utterly worthless for always crying."

"I can't control my emotions and every time I try to bring myself together, I fail miserably."

She said as she continued to let out all her bottled emotions caused by her insecurities.

He wiped her tears with his thumb and booped her nose.

"You are gorgeous baby, all your scars and imperfections make you unique and enhance your beauty. It's okay to feel this way, but remember one thing, you are the most beautiful woman in my eyes."

"I appreciate every inch of your body and your flaws that constantly remind me that you are different from others. You don't deserve to feel this way baby. You are shining with your own imperfections and your uniqueness is what makes you stand out from all the women out there."

"So don't you ever feel this way, bun."

His words felt like applying ice on her burned scars. She quickly engulfed him in a tight hug and placed her chin on his shoulder.

"I love you so much." She whispered.

Pulling away, he placed a soft kiss on her wrist while his eyes never left hers.

"You know what baby, let me replace all your so-called flaws with my kisses so when you look at them you are only reminded of my kisses"...
