Everyone Dies

Chapter One

         In a dark,shallow room the cries and lamenting of souls are heard amidst the gulping sounds that were made due to fear.
         "I can't die here ohhh"a young skinny lady murmured,she looked like she could be in her late twenties."I'm the only son of my mother,if I die like this then my families  legacy is going to end"a chubby mature looking man complained almost yelling."My own problem is I'm too smart to die.I scored the total of 9A's in my WAEC and graduated with a first-class degree in Economics."a young looking boy boasted erupting laughter amongst the others.
          This continued for a very long time,as every one gave reasons why they needed to survive.I was seated behind drowned in my own thoughts when I felt a hand on my shoulders."Why are you so quiet my dear,don't you want to survive this."an elderly woman dressed in appealing apparel asked with a warm smile.I took time evaluating her appearance,she smelled nice and spoke eloquently.I stared at her as her chubby cheeks rose,her gap teeth fully exposed as she wore a warm and beautiful smile."I don't have any reason to survive and I am not afraid of death.I've gone through things worse than death in my life."I replied sternly gaining attention from the others."Are you being serious right now,are you sure this girl is not the reason we are here.Just like how the ship wanted to sink because of Jonah."the young skinny lady said rudely."It's true ohhh,you are absolutely right,she is the Jonah in that bus and if we had thrown her out we would have not been in this condition"a man yelled from the audience."Why are you making so much noise there?Do you want to die before your time."a tall, muscular man yelled.He was dressed in a black t-shirt,black pants,black boots,black shades and a black face cap that covered half of his face.Another entered with the same dress code.It was impossible to see any of their faces."Sir my family is poor,I don't have any relatives with money.Infact I'm the only one from my family  who lives in the city,what I'm trying to say is you won't get any ransome from them so I'm useless to you."the chubby looking man said in a low voice."You are in no place to decide your fate or give any foolish opinions.If not that you are dumb you would have already guessed that you don't call the shots here.So If I were you I would keep my mouth shut."the thing yelled as everyone shivered in fear."If you know what is good for you,you will start praying that your people come through for you or you will all be dead meat."the second thug advised sternly with a wild stare before they both stormed out."oh God how did I get here,who send me"one of the ladies cried as I leaned back on the dirty walls.
                            Two Weeks Ago
         "Have you people heard,a new company just came into town and they are desperately looking for workers both literate,illiterate and even inexperienced people."one of our neighbours announced with excitement."Where is the company now,what kind of job is it"her friend asked with intense curiosity."I don't know ohhh,you want to apply.I heard their pay is very huge,you should try it out." This was clearly an opportunity of a lifetime. I thought as I settled on the wooden chair that laid helplessly in the corridor. Because of my lack of education,I never got the opportunity to work   in the office.Plus my dream had always been to get a white collar job but all I got was hard labour. "Where is the company aunty"I asked almost in a whisper. "They said it's around that round about in town,but the interview is being held in Grand Day Hotel."she replied with an awkward glare."Do you want to apply, you should I think it would be very beneficial to you and you might not get a chance like this again."She said with a warm smile.Her smile was reassuring,it gave me hope and confidence so I decided to try it out,a decision I was just beginning to regret.
