Bruce

chapter 2:

[Bruce] 

I had another dream about my father, it happens to me a lot lately and I don't understand why, maybe because my mother got officially married again with another man. I am not mad her, I understand she has the right to redo her life after the death of my father, she has the right to love and be happy again.

I understand and want her to be happy, it's just that she could have chosen better. The man who says to be my step-father is a complete asshole. He acts all lovely and kind around my mother but when he is alone with me he treats me like trash, and I really can't stand it. 

I tried talking about it with my mother, but she thinks I just hate him because I'm mad that she got married again. She is so cluless, it's like she has been brainwashed by that man and no longer trusts me. So, to escape from all those negative thougts, I go sailing with my father's boat. Sailing makes me forget about all my problems and it also makes me think a lot about my father, because in the end, he was the one that taught me everyhthing about boats and how to sail. 

He used to say to me that there was nothing greater than the sea, and being able to sail over it was a precious tressure the nature brought to us.  He loved the sea and this place, Sealand, I used to love it too, but since he died nothing has been the same anymore, I'm not saying that I hate it now, I still love Sealand, mostly because of the friends I made here and all the memories I've lived with my father, it's just that, sometimes I miss him. 

But, when I do, I like sailing and remembering that I should be thankful for the life he and my mother gave me, and I should live it without any regrets. My friends always say I'm  too optimistic with everything, I guess it came from my father, he always told me that to be happy you had to look at the good side of everything. There is always gonna be a good side, he said, while looking at the horizon with a big smile. 

While I was sailing on this sunday morning, I remembered about what Luca showed us the day before, and how we planned on meeting today to investigate it. So I returned to the port and walked over the place towards Luca's house.

When I arrived I saw Luca and Kam talking, Luca has been in love with Kam since we were kids, but Kam never really showed much interest in him, so he kept his feelings although I told him not to. Lately they have become closer and he seems so much happier. I still think Kam doesn't feel the same, but I wish she did, because Luca is a really good guy and deserves to be loved. 

Bruce: Good morning guys! (I said as I walked towards them)

Luca: You came! I think the other two forgot... (he said laughing)

Kam: I would have forgotten too if you hadn't called me to be honest. 

Bruce: Ria must be surfing and Ed... I tried calling him but he didn't pick up, maybe he's working. 

Luca: Should we go to his place?

Bruce: Yea, you two go there and I'll go find Ria, we'll meet here once we've found them-

Kam: Good, let's go then.

Luca: Alright see ya.

When we seperated, I started walking to the beach, I've known Ria since I was 5, I meet her surfing and know how much she loves it, just as I love sailing. I like surfing too, mostly because it means spending time with her, and with all my other friends. Ria goes surfing every time she can, mostly early in the morning because she loves watching the sun rise as she goes for the waves. 

As I arrived at the beach I saw a few people surfing, but none of them were Ria, confused I went to the Seadale Surfing Spot to see if she was working, but I just found her father. 

Bruce: Good morning Mr. Thompson

Mr. Thompson: Good morning Bruce, what can I do for you?

Bruce: I'm looking for your daughter, do you know where she is?

Mr. Thompson: I haven't seen her since yesterday night but she must be surfing as always. 

Bruce: Alright, thank you Mr. Thompson, have a good day!

Mr. Thompson: You too kid!

I walked out of the shop really confused, if she wasn't home, nor working or surfing, where the hell did she go. Her father hadn't seen her since last night, and last night the last person that saw her was Eden, so I'd probably have to ask him if something happened. 

As I went back to Luca's house I called him to see if they had already found Ed. But befor he picked up I saw them three already there waiting for me so I hung up. 

Luca: Yo, what took you too long?

Kam: And where is Ria?

Bruce: I couldn't find her anywhere. (as I said that Ed looked at me with a confused face)

Ed: Have you looked at the beach?

Bruce: Yes, it's the first place I went to, but she wasn't there. She wasn't at the Surf Spot either and her father told me he hadn't seen her since last night, which is really wierd.

I saw Ed's eyes fill with concern and that's when I knew something was wrong.

Bruce: Ed, what happened yesterday?

Eden: What do you mean? I just went back home and that's all.

Bruce: I something's wrong, you can't lie to me.

He sighed as he sat down in the couch that was in the patio of Luca's house.

Eden: We may have had some kind of argument. 

I looked at him in disbelief, Ed and Ria are constantly making jokes to each other, but it has never been anything serious, they have always been so close and their friendship is one of the strongest in the whole group. Me and Ria are also really good friends, but not as much as her with Eden, they've always been best friends since I've known them, and the fact that they had an argument is shoocking to all of us.

Luca: What? Why?

Kam: What happened?

Eden just looked at his feet and stayed silent. I knew he was sad, whatever happened yesterday had really affected him, because he never stays quiet, when he is quiet it's when you know that there's a problem. 

Bruce: Alright mate, whatever happened we need to fix it, you can't stay like this, she is your best friend. (I said as I sat down next to him)

Suddenly he got up and started walking away quickly.

Eden: I know where she is, just stay here I'll bring her.

Bruce: Good (I said with a smile)

I knew he would be able to solve whatever happened, he always did, and more if it was with her. As much as I hate to admit it, I know he always had some kind of feeling for her and the other way around. Nothing can be done about it.

As much as I'd like her to look at me the way she looks at Eden, I know she neved did, because I know her too well. I'll just have to be happy for them.
