As I walked through the grand hall of Hogwarts on the last day of my seventh year, I couldn't help but feel a bittersweet mix of emotions. Tonight, was the night of our long-awaited graduation ball, and I was excited to celebrate with my closest friend, Sebastian. The hall had been transformed into a stunning ballroom, with twinkling lights and enchanting music filling the air. The ball had been a topic of heated debate among the faculty, but ultimately, they had come together to ensure it would remain a cherished tradition. Even Headmaster Black's attempts to cancel it were quickly shut down by the united voice of the school's staff.

I couldn't believe I had been convinced to go to the ball, it took Sebastian a smirk and a well-placed please and I was game. There I stood, next to him in my deep navy suit, white shirt, and light blue tie, feeling like a complete fool. He looked absolutely dashing in his emerald suit, paired with a black shirt and pale green tie. I couldn't help but admit that he looked even more handsome than I would dare say out loud. It was impossible for me to look at him without feeling my pale face turn crimson. How could I have let him talk me into this? If it hadn't been for him, I would have spent the evening holed up in the Ravenclaw common room, doing merlin knows what. And to make matters worse, I didn't even think he had asked me because he was interested in me. Although to be fair he has never shown me more than overtly physical banter with me, so I had no reason to take any of his actions as interest. No, he probably only asked me because I had saved his sister a year earlier.

I talked with Keepers halfway through my sixth year and was able to develop a counter curse for Anne. When I told Sebastian he was so thrilled he nearly squeezed the life out of me, but still having suffered the repercussions of killing his uncle so I had to go to Anne and heal her myself. Although doing so had revealed a curse I had been afflicted with. A remnant of Isadora's magic had attacked me while I was constructing a new repository for all of the pain. It was yet another way I let people down, first my sister and then professor Fig. His death had nearly ruined me, everyone celebrating the house cup like they won while the world continued to shrink around me. People gave me their empty pity while I had lost the only father I had known. Sebastian yanked my hand pulling my hand out of the stupor that had spelled over my thoughts. As we stepped into the room the opulence and grandeur of the hall left me without words. Sebastian on the other hand seemed to speak for both of us.

"Wow." Sebastian all of his muscles releasing all tension before finally looking back at me.
"We should find the others," I managed over the loud cacophony that had amassed in the center of the Great Hall.

The high ceilings and elaborate chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the scene, and the sound of lively chatter and laughter echoed into the enchanted ceiling. Some of my classmates had really outdone their wardrobe, I recall a Hufflepuff's dress made of living vines and flowers. Sebastian and I made our way to a table, Poppy, Anne, and Natty spotted us and quickly abandoned their table to join us. Ominis was nowhere to be seen. To be fair he rarely attended an event with so many people crowding around, considering it a hazard. Poppy had made a dress from all the feathers Highwing shed over the last year and a half. Natsai reluctantly wore a dress her mother insisted she wear, as a symbol of her heritage. Anne had worn a rather beautifully revealing silk green dress clad in decorative scale mail with the occasional jewel glittering in the candlelight.

"You both could have been a bit more creative with your outfit," Nastai jabbed, comparing their outfits to ours.

"I didn't realize it was going to be this spectacular," I countered. Sebastian gave a playful glare at the jab and chuckled. "That aside, you three look stunning!"
