It was an inset day at school... Apparently there was a gas leak, but I suspected it was because the teachers didn't want to deal with a bunch of feral teenagers.
Berry was hanging out with his new boyfriend, Ella had gone to France for the week (family issues) meaning I was stuck by myself. Damn my loneliness; at least I could read Empireland for as long as I wanted!
((SIDE NOTE: Empireland is actually a really good book, I highly recommend it))
(Time skip- 3 hours)
I had already finished reading my book, so I decided to go out to Greenwich. Maybe sit under the blossom tree... Play a bit of Solitaire.
*Ding*
A new notification from Instagram. Was it that guy who wouldn't leave me alone? Or was it some scammer asking for "the Pics". Either way, I made sure that all my device had been backed up just in case I accidentally opened a virus.
"Hey, I heard about an interview you did with my cousin... Can I add a few bits?"
I looked at the profile of this new person. Seemed alright... Just that he couldn't get over the death of his boyfriend. 30-ish years apparently. Although some people did deal with grief differently.
"Sure! Wanna call to discuss? I find that's the easiest way to interview people"
Immediately after he read my message, he was already calling. This guy was too quick! I hoped that he actually didn't accept the invitation of the phone call, but alas.
"Hello! Is the WiFi alright? Is my camera bad quality?" I had forgotten that I had my headphones on, with some classical music blaring to fill the emptiness.
"Oh! Yes everything's fine. Now about the things you wanted to add?" I commented, swiftly turning my volume down. His voice was accented, but not like Louis's voice. Only this time, I could figure out where he was from.
Croatia.
"Yes! Just wanted to add on some trivia if that's alright?" he asked, looking away from the camera. After he told me his 'trivia' and I noted it down, I hung up the call. Sighing, I looked up at the tall tree.
"Louis," I asked, watching his wispy figure appear in front of me. "Did you know anyone called Antonijo?" Louis nodded sadly.
"He was my boyfriend..." he mumbled, sitting down next to me. "And a lovely fellow he was! Can't help but remember when we first met... He was a local at the cafe I worked at in Switzerland. He'd often come in with a new joke or a new story, and I'd just sit and listen. Only until after I was a bit 'sadder' than usual, he picked up on it immediately. Had me go on break, sat me down and told me to just vent to him. Told him everything, the poor sod..."
As he carried on talking, I drifted off into a separate train of thought. Me being aromantic, I could never understand.
"And then, he kissed me." Louis muttered, a ghost-tear-thing forming in his eye. "He said he meant it, and that he loved me and meant it. I... really couldn't have asked for a better person to live my life with."
"Louis, mate, you keep things on your chest for too long," I sighed, inhaling the air around me. "Actually, I can't say anything-"
"LOUIS? LOUIS, ARE YOU THERE?" The man's voice ripped through my headphones. For fuck's sake, I must have been going mad...
I checked my phone. I hadn't hung up, I'd flipped the bloody camera round!
"No sorry, I'm talking to my cousin Louis..." I replied hurriedly. "It was lovely talking to you!" As quickly as I physically could, I hung up on him and this time made sure that I had pressed the correct button. This time, I had.
"Why did you say we were cousins?" Louis huffed, folding his arms. "I could've seen his face one last time..."
"Mate, chill, I've got his Insta handle," I groaned, showing him Antonijo's profile. "And that was the only way I could get him off my tail. He just slid into my DMs and decided that I would remind you of him. Don't blame me!"
