Out of fear and words from his grandmother, he felt that this ghost was trying to get his guard down. So, he immediately got up and ran," Wa ,Wai,WAIT", he heard behind him but he didn't stop.
Again a slab of wood came up right in front of him, yet this time he dodged it, Lorenzo did that four more times. Near edge of the giant tree stomp, he thought maybe he could get away from this thing when a giant wall of flame came in front of him.
Lorenzo prayed to God and jumped believing getting away was more important than staying and getting consumed by an evil ghost. However, to his surprise the flames extinguished right as his skin was about to touch it. He landed hard onto the ground. The pain feeling even more real, because of his own fault for starting to calm down when the ghost healed his arm this made his adrenaline die down and it was making his aches and pain magnify. Specifically, his ankle's pain was multiplying to a point that he'd stop if fear wasn't pushing him.
He took a chance to look back as he was getting up; nothing was there. He started to move again, as his head swiveled forward his face ran through something freezing, Two hands slammed onto his shoulders stopping him, he tried to react however a single word made him stop. "Maria", the name of his mother spoken by a woman's voice.
The ghost hands released him and he felt chilled as it stepped right through him and turned to face him. The closeness made him take a single step back, "Lorenzo", she said to him, it sounded like a question.
Again it placed her hand on her chest then reached out to his, but Lorenzo immediately took defensive steps backward.
"Wait, I do not want to kill you", it spoke to him.
Hearing the word kill really made him worry about what was coming next.
The ghost came closer to him again, " Stop, what are you?", Lorenzo asked. The spirit stopped, tilted it's head and her faced her contorted. This made him want to step back even further. The ghost's mouth was moving, but nothing was coming out. It repeated this a few more times than abruptly came closer and before Lorenzo could do anything he heard the two words, "English, Hard".
"English, Hard" ,Lorenzo repeated, the ghost bobbed it's head affirming him.
"But just a minute ago you clearly said a perfect sentence", he added.
The spirit's face again contorted which was freaky looking to Lorenzo, because it's whole face sunk into itself. They both stood there looking at each, but it was Lorenzo to first look away. "Can you change your face a little, its hard to look at", he blurted out as stared at the large no humongous tree stomp.
The spirit blew a small laugh.
"English hard, yet you know what I said there", he commented.
The spirit clapped it's hand together that made Lorenzo look to it, it then pointed at the stump.
"Tree", the spirit said.
Lorenzo stepped back onto the stump,"You are kinda right, it was a tree, but now its a stump", he answered.
The spirit floated closer to him, which again made him step back.
"T-R-U-S-T.... ME" , came out from the spirit as he stepped back.
"Trust, you", he parroted. The ghost nodded and floated next to him.
Lorenzo really wanted to move away then the ghost slowly started to place it's hand onto his chest. All his reasons were blasting through his nerves to move and a split second before he was, the spirit with a strained yet kind tone whispered, " Trust me Lornezo".
For some reason this time hearing those words in that tone made him relax.
As the spirit's hand touched his chest, immediately the metal burning feeling came from his chest. He fell to his knees the ghost followed the level change. His eyes shut tight trying to figure out if he should get away or accept his fate. Then for moments the pain stopped he opened his eyes to find the spirit looking straight at him with a kind smile.
With pain gone and the pretty smile of the spirit he felt blessed for the moment.
"Trust me, it won't last much longer", the spirit said to him without moving it's lips as if it said it directly to his brain.
Lorenzo's body tried to jerk away as the pain came again, it was even more awful the pain wanted to make him faint yet it wouldn't happen. The spirit put it's other arm over Lorenzo to not allow his spasming body to get away.
He screamed out in pain, nothing but pain running through his brain, the scream came from the depths of him. The spirit hugged him tight, as the screaming drowned the forest shadows around them.
Silence came the physical pain gone, the mental pain though Lorenzo was feeling, his whole life journey playing through his eyes no feelings just the playback of his life.
As the memories caught to the moment, he eyes fell to the spirit holding him.
"I wasted it", he thought.
"I'm so sorry Lorenzo", the spirit voiced.
It all went dark.
