About two weeks later, our odd group had been meeting up three times a week to study spanish. And by study, I mean spend the first 15-20 minutes waiting for Jeff, then talk/ argue until we were done. The amount of actual studying going on was a lot lower than it probably should be.
"Good afternoon, Greendale Community College! I am your dean with a few corrections to the fall class catalog. Cosmology should be Cosmetology. Astrology should be Astronomy. The students on the cover should be smiling, but I suppose that's a matter of opinion. Whoever is growing a small patch of cannabis behind the gymnasium, congratulations, you have won a cruise. Report to security to claim your tickets. In order to increase awareness of homelessness, security has been given binoculars."
Britta looked outraged at that one.
"In campus news, the debate over our library's PA system continues, with some students suggesting its volume be lowered while others question its very purpose. More on that story as it unfolds."
"That dude makes a lot of announcements." Troy commented, the others nodding in agreement.
"I'm so tempted to just take the speaker out of this room." I said, making Annie let out a scandalized gasp, and Abed and Troy laugh. Ever since that first night, I'd been hanging out with Troy and Abed a lot. I wasn't too keen on hanging with Troy at first, but he was actually a decent guy. Once you get past his ego. Although he'd been slowly letting the air of blind self-confidence go in favor of just being nice.
Abed and I had started a tradition of watching movies after our study group sessions. Since our tastes were similar, we'd made a list of films the other hadn't seen, and were slowly working our way through it.
Troy would join in sometimes, but after watching Drag Me to Hell with us, he wouldn't go unless we promised it wasn't a horror movie.
"I kinda like it." Abed said, interrupting my thoughts. "It makes every ten minutes feel like the beginning of a new scene in a TV show."
And he's going meta again.
"The illusion lasts until someone says something they never say on TV, like how much life is like TV. There, it's gone."
Annie looked around the room, then at the doorway. "I guess Jeff's running late again."
I sighed. "Annie, hon, he's not as great as you make him out to be."
She just looked at me confused, as Britta spoke up. "What a shame. Maybe we should get started..."
The others let out a chorus of no's, making me roll my eyes. "I think we should wait for Jeff." Shirley said, making Britta close her book in a huf. Annie looked a bit nervous.
"But when Jeff gets here, we could talk to him, as a group, about his tardiness." She said, clearly hoping for a compromise.
"Oh, come on now. Don't use that word around Abed." Pierce said. I looked over at him, confused. I'm not sure if that was an insult, or just Pierce being a moron.
"If you want me to have a chat with Jeff, I'd do it. We've got a bond going, kind of, sort of like brothers." Or maybe he's just delusional.
Troy snorted. "Hope your mom didn't make you take baths together. Because one of you would have been like 30." Everyone but Pierce laughed.
"Jeff probably comes late so he doesn't have to sit through your tardiness." He spat. "Sorry Abed."
Definitely delusional.
"Hey, will you guys have some self-respect? You are obsessing over someone who does not give you a second thought. Meanwhile, in Guatemala, journalists are being killed by their own government!" Britta basically yelled.
