Charming. Sure, you can call Forgotten Hollow that if you want. You'd be lying to yourself though. Me? I'd describe it as run-down. A breeding ground for creeps.
What exactly prompted me to move from Del Sol Valley to this wretched town? My mother, that simple. She said I needed to move somewhere I won't know anyone and start over. I don't have the best reputation back home. I may or may not have executed a few 'harmless' pranks on Judish Ward, a very popular actress. What exactly I did is not important, just that I did it and that it ruined my reputation.
*Knock*
"I swear to father winter, who is knocking on my door." I walked over to my door and looked into the peep hole before opening it. On the other side of the door were two young adults. Stepping back from the door I take a few deep breaths preparing myself to talk to what I would assume are my new neighbors. I open the dreaded door.
"Hi, I'm Arabella. Nice to meet you." I smile and hold my hand out to the man in front of me.
He looks at my hand for a moment before shaking it, "Arabella, what a beautiful name, I'm Caleb, Caleb Vatore." He says in a warm tone with a smile. The girl steps up from behind him, "I'm Lilith Vatore." Her introduction was a little less welcoming, almost cold, her voice was toneless, maybe a warning that I should get the hell out of here.
"Please come in." I step aside from the door, "It's still a mess in here, I'm still getting my stuff out of boxes." After Caleb walks in Lilith does so as well.
"We brought you this, it's kinda a welcoming gesture around here." Caleb holds out a fruitcake.
"Hey! No way, that's actually a welcoming gift from where I'm from too!" I respond as the two of them sit down at my kitchen table as I go to grab three plates and forks from a cabinet. They both turn down a slice of the fruit cake while I'm cutting it.
"Where are you from?" Caleb asks curiously.
"Del Sol Valley, it's very far from here, and very different." "I mean Del Sol literally translates to 'of the sun' very different from here.""I can tell, you're very tan, you'll lose it if you live here for too long." He laughed, "What made you move to such a gloomy area?"
"Well, my mother decided it would be best for me if I moved away from our home town, and said I should get to know more people. Or something like that."
"Interesting." Lilith added in her dry tone, "That's the only reason you moved here? Right?" After he questioned Caleb glared at Lilith for a second.
Weird, why's she asking this, "Yeah it is, like I said it's very different and far away from my home so there would be a guarantee I won't know anyone." I paused looking at her, she seemed ... distant, "I mean if I moved to Sulani it's very close to home so I would probably know a few people."
"Hm."
"So what about you guys? Where are you two originally from, or were you born here?"
"We moved here a few years ago, we lived very far away from here before, even farther than Del Sol Valley." Caleb paused, "What do you do for a living, I'm curious."
"Back home I was a producer for movie companies, you know all movies are filmed in the valley, basically the entire town is based on filmmaking, almost everyone is a part of the industry."
"Sounds like a very lively city, this is very different. There's only one other person living in town, he's not out very much. I don't know if you'll ever meet him." Caleb looked over to Lilith and she gave him a nod of approval, "He's not the nicest guy, he lives up in the mansion on top of the hill, if you run into him be nice and walk away as soon as possible, alright?"
"Yeah, yeah I'll do that if I see him."
"Wow! Look at the time Caleb, we need to get going." Lilith paused, and for the first time tonight I saw her smile, "I need to cook dinner."
"Yeah you're right, we should get going, it's getting late." Caleb and Lilith stood up and started towards the door, I opened it for them, right before closing it Caleb announced something.
"Do you mind if I use your bathroom real quick before we go." He seemed anxious, "Lil why don't you wait outside i'll only be a second."
She looked at him confused before stepping outside. As soon as the door was shut Caleb put his index finger to his mouth in a silencing manner. He walked over and whispered into my ear almost silent, "Paper. Pen. She'll hear."
I walk over to the counter and grab a notepad with my grocery list on the first page and a pen. I hand it to Caleb and he rips off my grocery list and quickly writes down a note before leaving to go to the bathroom.
Be careful, people here aren't normal. Watch your back whenever you're out past dusk if you ever are in trouble with someone who doesn't seem human, call me: (778)-330-2389. We really need to talk alone, I'll be over here later tonight without my sister. 10:47 on the dot, be sitting at the table I'll knock on the door.
After going to the bathroom Caleb hurried out the door without even turning back to me.
I stood there in shock like a dumbass.-
