3 ➳ "trying"

"what are you ordering?" yujin asked you making you slightly jump.

you two were both sitting in silence and not saying anything other than when you ordered drinks.

"umm i'm not sure yet, still looking" you said not looking up and continuing to search through the menu. truthfully though you couldn't focus on anything on the menu with yujin's eyes burning a hole into your face.

"i can't focus with you staring like that" you finally said putting your menu down to look at her.

"i'm just trying to be a good date. i'm paying full attention to you" yujin shrugged.

"well don't do it while i'm trying to focus, it's distracting" you told her.

yujin held her hands up in defense looking away from you. a couple of seconds later the waiter came over and you quickly scanned the menu again while yujin was ordering. once the waiter looked over at you just decided to have the same as yujin.

you both gave your menus to the waiter and as soon as he left another awkward silence came upon the two of you.

"so... why'd you agree to this?" you asked to break the silence.

"cause as far as i can tell you literally avoid me whenever we're left alone... you don't even like touching me.. why would you willingly be left alone with me?" you ranted on.

"i told you earlier i don't hate you" yujin cut off your rant.

"okay then you dislike me. you haven't done anything to prove otherwise" you retorted.

yujin took a deep breath before trying to explain herself, "i'm here tonight. i knew it was you who i was going with, shouldn't that say enough"

"is this you trying to say you like me, cause this is a terrible way to tell me"

"listen y/n i am trying here"

you sighed letting up, "when we first met i thought you were hot, annoying but hot. but then i realized you were just rude to me which really turned me off from you"

"you make me nervous" yujin finally confessed.

"how?" you asked.

"you were really cute the first time i met you and you made me feel things i've never felt before. i didn't know how to handle that and treated you like shit" yujin explained. "when you tried to hug me after we first met, i pushed you away because i didn't want you to feel how fast my heart was beating"

"that's why i agreed with today, to treat you like you deserve" yujin stated.

"that's a lot of information to digest" you chuckled.

"i just want you to know i'm willing to get to know you more if you'll have me" yujin took a sip from her drink as she looked at you with her puppy eyes.

you thought over it for a second, making yujin grow nervous as time passed.

"i am also willing to try. but if you treat me like shit again i'll actually never talk to you again" you told her.

yujin's eyes sparkled immediately, "from now on i want to show you how much i like you. be prepared y/n"

you nodded, "okay yujin"

almost like perfect timing the waiter came back with the food setting it in front of the two of you.

during the dinner you two made conversation about every time yujin would get flustered over you and what she did to avoid you, your lives, and about how great the food was.

the way yujin was treating you tonight was such a contrast from her usual ways. you felt like maybe she was actually trying, but wouldn't get your hopes up too fast.
