Jessie yawned as he sat pondering what was in his hands. He could play stasis or play smothering tithe. Each would deter the game in his favor. As Jessie pondered this he hear a loud,
"Fuck you!" From the casual player table. Jessie turned only to see Cherry standing over a table yelling loudly at one of her friends while she proceeded to have obviously more fun than he was having at the moment. This moment was followed by a cascade of giggles from her mouth. Jessie shook his head and muttered:
"Why do the casuals seem to have more fun than we do at this competition?""Probably because they never take this shit seriously." Replied Carson sternly glaring where Jessie was looking longingly.
"Jess you gonna play or drool dream?" Snapped Xander in irritation.
"Right..." Answered Jessie reluctantly. "I will pay two white and two blue for a smothering tithe. Any responses?"
....
Two hours later Jessie let the cool, bubbly sensation of the energy drink trickle down his throat as he smiled proud he won this round. His friends glared and sneered but he was content.
"G.G.!" Came a call from the casual section. Laughter followed and then loud chatter insued. Jessie sighed sadly at the sound. His friends had left and he was soon to follow. He stood when something unexpected happened.
"Jessie!" He turned at the call of his name. There stood Cherry with a big grin on her rosy cheeks and subtle skin.
"Hello Miss..." Jessie greeted in an awkward fashion. This was not his first interaction with Cherry but he couldn't help but feel odd.
"Did ya win?!" She cheerily inquired.
"I did. And you, Miss?"
"No. But I loved every part of the lose!" She smiled a big grin and then patted his shoulder. "You'll forever be the better player between you and I." She giggled her pastel punk sweatered chest shook on her slender body.
"That's good, Miss. Maybe one day I will see you at the CEDH table?" Jessie asked with hope stirring in his belly.
"Nah, I'm content with where I'm at." She grinned a big cheesy grin. And as disappointment bubbled inside Jessie's chest, Cherry offered a ray of hope. "Although maybe one of these days would you care to join us at the causal table?"
Jessie's heart skipped a beat yet he ignored the sweet bliss it caused him temporarily. "Maybe Miss, maybe."
At that moment the sweet interaction was broken with a call from Xander. "Jess, let's go! Our ride's waiting!"
Jessie nodded to Cherry and she waved delicately to him as he left with Xander.
....
As Jessie seated himself beside Xander he was posed with an inquiry from Xander.
"Why do you associate with that woman?"
"..." Silence was all Jessie could propose.
"She's not one of us, Jess."
"Carson's right. You two come from two different worlds."
"You don't know her." Jessie offered quietly.
"Neither do you." Snapped Xander.
Jessie sighed. "I may not now... But maybe one day..." He muttered.
Xander and Carson shook their heads disapprovingly.
"My advice?" Offered Jake, their ride. "Avoid her. Listen to your friends. They probably know what's best."
"...alright" grumbled Jessie turning his gaze out the window.
