Joseph was holding (Y/N) by her arm gently, leading her outside the house.
—"By the protocol, I must interrogate you. How about we do it in your house instead of a police station?"— he suggests.
—"Y-yeah... I'd appreciate that, thank you..."— you weakly smile and wipe away the remaining tears and blood from your face. —"What will happen with Michael tho?..."—
—"An ambulance will arrive in a little while to get his and the other bodies, after that they'll make the autopsy and burry him."—
The female just nods, not sure what she've expected. She just needs to calm down and accept the fact that Michael is now gone for good, he will not magically go back to life. And if it happens... Okay let's be honest, that would be spooky as fuck.
Before walking to the car he came, Joseph calls to one of the four officers.
—"Would you mind going to the McLeod residence and tell the residents that miss (L/N) is safe and the criminal was deceased."—
—"Right on the way, detective."— the officer gives a firm nod.
Before getting into Joseph's car, (Y/N) glances at the house entrance and sees Loomis's figure. The doctor seems to be completely broken, as if he just lost a close family member or something. Huh, guess Michael mattered as much or even more to Loomis than to (Y/N).
With another silent sigh and shake of her head, the female enters the car with her detective friend and they finally leave the scene.
. . .
—"...I let him down."— Loomis mutters whilst staring at Michael's lifeless body.
—"Doctor, don't start..."— sheriff Brackett sighs whilst lighting his cigarette.
—"You don't understand it sheriff! I've spent 15 fucking years investigating Michael's case, doing my best to help him. Just... Just to let him end up like this?!"— he gestures at the body.
—"It be like that sometimes, doctor... It doesn't matter how hard you try, some things are designated to fail."— sheriff exhales and pauses. —"Like my daughter Annie for example, always tried to teach her how to be a responsible person just to discover she left the kid she was supposed to babysit to go fuck with her boyfriend."—
Such statement made Loomis release a small chuckle.
—"And that's the main reason why I never wanted kids."—
Another pause settles between the two males, the silence lasts a couple of good minutes until sheriff Brackett decides to break it.
—"I should be going to the station to write a report about this. Will you stay here?"— he curiously glances at the doctor.
—"Just for a while. I won't stay until the ambulance's arrive tho... I... I don't want to see him being taken away, not like this."—
—"It's impressive how much Myers means to you... Judging by your book, it looked like you hated him."— the sheriff arches his brow.
—"Not my fault written words can't transmit the tone. And I wasn't trying to hate on him, I was trying to spread awareness."—
—"And what about all these comments about miss (L/N)?"—
—"So people don't end up as miserable as she did!"— he slightly rises his voice. —"Maybe I did slightly exaggerated some things here and there... But it was to make a bigger impact on the reader!"—
