"Yes, I promise. Now tell," I eagerly reply, my curiosity reaching its peak.

"You know my brother, Rafe?" she asks, her voice tinged with a mix of uncertainty and concern.

I furrow my brow, trying to recall my memory, searching for any connection to a Rafe guy she mentioned.

"I haven't had the chance to meet him, but yeah, I know you have one," I reply, hoping it's enough to provide some reassurance.

"So um, my brother..." she pauses, her voice trailing off as she searches for the right words.

The room slowly falls into a heavy silence.

I can feel the weight of her hesitation, and her gaze slowly falls to the floor, a silent plea for understanding.

It leaves me wondering if it's just a momentary pause or if she has changed her mind about sharing.

I prepare myself to interject, sensing her hesitation, but then she looks up with a short glint of determination in her eyes,

-a silent resolve building within her.

"So he... he killed someone," she blurred out. The words landing like heavy stones in the stillness of the room.

Her confession hangs in the air, casting an uneasy shadow over our conversation, and I freeze in my tracks, letting her words sink in slowly.

I wasn't sure what I expected her to say, but this definitely wasn't it. It sounded like a twisted joke you regret saying.

It was hard to wrap my head around the seriousness of her reveal, but I couldn't dwell on it because Sarah just kept on talking.

"And now my father is wrongly accusing my boyfriend of the crime, but he's innocent," she explains.

I could sense a blend of sadness and frustration in her voice. Tears also began to form in her blue eyes, one blink away from rolling down her cheeks.

"I just... just can't live with it, so I was on my way to my boyfriend, Jone B, to be with him and try to clear his name," she continues, her voice trembling.

The weight of her words sinks in deeply, leaving me at a loss for comforting words.

"Hey, hey, slow down," I say, my voice gently but firmly, trying to grasp the significance of her statement.

"I need to know if this is real or just a sick joke," I question, my voice a mix of disbelief and concern.

She nods slowly, confirming the harsh reality, and the seriousness of the situation hits me like a ton of bricks.

-This is completely insane... no, forget that, he's the one who's fucking insane.

"That's why we need to leave this place, I don't trust him nor my father," she explains, her voice trembling as she wipes away tears.

I pause, weighing my options. Her problem isn't necessarily mine, yet.

"I can't. I really can't go without my parents," I finally admit, my voice barely audible.

It looks like she understood, her eyes darting towards the door. "I see, but I have to go before they catch me sneaking out,"

She was already half out of the room when I called out her name, my voice filled with concern. "Sarah?"

She turned back to look at me. I took a deep breath "I won't tell, you have my word."

her gaze filled with gratitude. "Thank you," she mouthed silently before disappearing through the door.
