In hear the soft creaking of my bedroom door. I keep my eyes shut, assuming the disturbance of my sleep was Padfoot. The door slowly creaks closed, yet I keep my eyes shut.

Odd. Why would Padfoot try so hard not to wake me? It could be Moony, but I doubt it. I barely open my eyes to clarify. A petite girl with flaming red hair and emerald eyes stood at the foot of my bed. The sight makes my heart leap.

Lily Evans. The Lily Evans, that I was hopelessly in love with, was standing in my bedroom in the middle of the night. She hasn't noticed I'm awake. I quickly shut my eyes and even my breath. Hopefully, she will retrieve whatever she wants out of my room before I can embarrass myself and ruin my chances of continuing our newfound friendship.

However, I hear her stalk over to the side of my bed. What does she need with me so late at night? I feel the mattress dip and the duvet rustle. I couldn't believe my luck.

Lily Evans was in my bed.
After all this time. Did she even know how much I love her? Had Padfoot put her put to this? Was she just taunting me or were our feelings mutual? Why was she in my bed in the first place?

Then I realized, this was a dream. A realistic dream to say the least, but why else would she be here? I couldn't actually think that she had loved me back!

I sigh with disappointment. Lily, who I had my back to, seemed restless. It was like she kept creeping closer to me, as if anticipating I would do something. I might as well take advantage of this depressingly wonderful dream.

I flip to my other side to where she was facing me. Her breath quickens. I drape an arm over her slender body and pull her close to me. She relaxes as she rests her arm over my waist and lays her head on my shoulder. My heart was pounding at an unnatural rate.

I sigh again, this time with contentment. After a seconds hesitation, she plants a kiss on my neck.
Wait. That felt real. I stroked her back. That felt real too. This wasn't a dream.

"Lily?" I whispered into her hair. I doubt she heard it. She didn't reply, so I continued to stroke her back and pulled her closer; trying to get her as close as I could to my heart. She nestles her head in the crook of my neck.

It was just then, when I realized, that this was the happiest moment of my life. I was cuddling with the girl of my dreams, who I had loved since I was eleven. I gave her a long kiss on top of beautiful red hair, my fingers tangling in her thick locks.

"James?" she murmured. She must have realized that I was awake. I mumbled a response, thinking this was too good to be true.

"I love you" she said, her voice laced with drowsiness. My eyes snapped open. After six years of me chasing her and, well, failing miserably, she had admitted to loving me.

This explaining why she crawled into bed with me in the first place, I realized she wasn't kidding.

"Lily...I love you too"
