I walk for about 4 blocks until reaching West Bureau street, stopping near a private restaurant.
It was decent place. French food is not common of a thing to eat in this part of the world but it is generally okay. The inside was fancy. Minimalistic, textured white curtains and tablecloths with an appearance of silky paper that would feel like touching smooth paper as your elbow brush against the side of it.I step into the establishment and the wait staff asks for a name.
"The reservation is under Taka. I'm meeting here for a blind date." She double checked and led to me the table in a quiet corner of the place, the same man from before sitting there, sipping on a some red wine.
I smiled and he stood up and shook my hand as we got into small talk. Talk of the weather, worklife, blah blah you get the point. Most responses were just "good" or "been going well.". Ordering wine and appetizers to share, normal as normal could seem.
Despite him looking like he's been in the business for a while, he couldn't help but slightly snicker at our conversation. Job switch maybe? I brushed off my bit of curiosity.
As soon as we were left to our own devices, we got right to business. He was a contact for an individual, who it was I really couldn't care less. Point was, 'Taka" came here to sort out the price of the information I could offer him.
"So." The man spoke, finishing a small sip of his wine. "The information you got about has been gathered quite quickly. You sure it's accurate?" 'them' refers to the Sentinel, an A rank hero with a very strange quirk that no one has been able to figure out. Well almost everyone.
"Yes, doubled and triple checked through trusted sources." Though a friendly little smile was on my face, it was a foreign expression.
"Good, good." He paused, glancing to some of the false planted pots above us. "How much?"
I thought for a moment, taking a quick moment to mentally prepare.!After tapping the side of my face for just a moment with a small 'hmm', I settled the price. "Partial is up to debate, full is 300k. I'm talking all the bells and whistles you could want." I said, glancing up towards the man.
He thought on it for a moment. Although he was not exactly the person, he seemed to know the individual well enough. Taka was deep in thought. Taking a sip of wine, he looked back to me. "We'll take the whole. Price is fair enough considering what you gave them before."
The look on his face was not one trying to bluff. Rather, he seemed like a more honest character. "Great, they already know what to do. Just send someone and I'll hand it over." I slipped a card my napkin and dropped it. It had a date and location.
"Whoops" I looked at him, the napkin, then back. He picked up the item putting it in his sleeve. The deal was sealed. The rest of the time we enjoyed the food and left. Going our separate ways.
I decided to walk around for a good while, looking at the shops. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a small candy shop and decided to step in. Walking in, the only employee in the shop said their greeting and I waved back. She was a girl with long pink hair (that almost looked like cotton candy) in a large bun, and casual wear underneath. Her name tag reads 'Hirai'
Everything looked so good, picking up a couple bags of things, I headed to the register.
As the employee began to scan the items, something came to mind. "Hey do you have any popping candy?"
She nodded. "Yes, I have some behind me on the wall." I gestured to the wide display of candy packets. 'Let's see...no... no .... no... there.'
I pointed to one of the packets and she grabbed 3 bags at my request.
She bagged the items and passed them my way "Will that be all today?" I gave her some cash. "Yes, thank you."
With that, I headed back to the station to get home. Keeping my belongings as close to me as possible until I stepped through that door.
'Another day, almost done.' Everything else sped by until I got to the door, hearing a quite 'bang' noise.
'... almost.'
