The water covered my face, cascading into my eyes and throat. Congested with the dark water, breathing became too difficult to compensate. My head began to pound, signaling the need for oxygen.
The dark water swirled around my limbs. Harsh pains ripped through my lungs as I slipped deeper into the oblivion. I had no other choice but to let myself go. Nobody was coming for me. Nobody cares enough to help poor, little Lacie. Why would they?
