Harry steps out of the cab, glancing with squinting eyes at the airport. It gives him a deja vu from when he arrived at the airport before they went on the trip.
Back then, he was super sad and heartbroken. Now, however, he feels stronger for some reason. He has a tight-knit friend group that has his back and has, wonder of wonders, forgiven him. But most of all, he feels stronger in his shoes.
The nostalgia makes him swallow the big lump in his throat, but he doesn't let him bring it down.
Louis glances over his shoulder with a small smile. "You coming?"
Harry quickly nods, reminding himself that he can do this and can get over that piece of shit.
They walk through the big mass at the airport. Louis walks up front and Harry easily keeps up with the smaller man's pace, his long legs making him faster than the man in front of him.
Soon they make it through security, through the shops, once again giving him nostalgia, and then they reach the gate. They're quite early, so they have to wait for about an hour, and Louis lets out a deep sigh.
"I'm going to buy some overpriced snacks." He gestures toward the shops. "Do you want any?"
Harry nods as he plops down in one of the chairs at the gate. He momentarily closes his eyes, the thought of having a nap suddenly very appealing to him.
After a few minutes, he realizes that it might be better to sleep on the plane than at the gate, so he opens his eyes with a small sigh. Louis is still nowhere in sight, probably still deciding which snack he likes best.
As he glances around the airport, his eyes suddenly snap toward a familiar man. Oh hell no...
He immediately wants to curl up in his seat and disappear from the ends of the earth, but then he realizes that he isn't going to do that anymore. So instead of listening to his first thoughts, he sits up straight and proud, staring as Sam also takes a seat at the gate. He luckily didn't see Harry, which makes Harry let out a relieved sigh.
Louis arrives with a bag full of snacks seconds later and grabs the ones he chose for himself, handing Harry the rest. Harry's eyes bulge when he sees the amount of food that is still left and he is about to protest when Louis interrupts him.
"I didn't know what you like, so I just figured I would grab a variety of things. Don't feel like you have to eat it all, I can bring some home, but if you want to, of course you can."
Harry is stunned and mutters a quick thank you for the sweet gesture. He grabs a few snacks before handing the bag back to Louis and grabs a pack of crisps, munching on crisps quietly.
About half an hour later, the gate opens and they stand in line. Sam is for some reason, nowhere to be seen, but Harry doesn't mind it one bit.
After they have checked in and are finally seated in the plane, Louis turns toward him with a serious expression. "I think we should talk, Harry, before we have to part ways..."
Harry bites his lip. Right, they're going to part ways when they arrive in England. Where is he going to go? He can't go to Sam's apartment and he doesn't have one of his own.
His thoughts are interrupted by Louis who continues to speak. "I think you might have noticed that I was a little angry at you before Sam arrived and I figured it would be best if I explained."
Harry nods. "Of course, go ahead."
"Right, erm..." Louis suddenly seems very nervous for some reason, so Harry smiles at him, silently encouraging the older lad. "I guess it didn't sit well with me that you kinda ditched me for Sam... I mean, I get it now because I have seen him in real life and I get that he's manipulating and makes you scared, but it really bugged me that you thought that a phone call from him was more important than... You know."
