Serena is actually Bisexual (attracted to two or more genders.) I wanted to mention this several times during the books, but never found the right time. Her bisexuality does, however, show through when she gets a crush on a female friend... No, it wasn't Amelia.
During Another Selection, Silena and Serena became friends quickly and spent nearly every second together... And Serena soon developed a crush on her! Silena once questioned her about it, and when Serena tried to deny it--and failed-- Silena soon tried to spend time away from her.
