Chapter 2 - Creeptacular

"Alex Charles you're with Cade Thornton." Shit!
"Be nice Alex, he's new, I know you can be ruthless off the field as well as on."
I smiled at Mr Barrett "I'll be perfectly lovely."

Cade got up and sat in Jarred's seat. He didn't say a word to me as I proposed thoughts on the presentation. He just looked at me with his inticing amber eyes. It was like he was looking at my soul, it made me uncomfortable.

I basically ran out of class when the bell rang, I didn't stop to talk to Jarred I just went straight to English.

"Seriously Becca this guy is just plain weird."
"I think I've seen him, he's in my Math class. I agree totally creepy but kinda cute." She giggled and I rolled my eyes.

Halfway through English there was a knock at the door. One of the school receptionists walked in. "Sorry Mr Peterson this one got a bit lost."

I looked up from my work to see Cade walk in, Mr Peterson instructed him to sit in the empty seat in front of me. I didn't dare look at him as he sat down. Becca gave me a wide eyed look as I mouthed 'Help me'.

Throughout the rest of my class I did steal a few glances up at Cade. He didn't move a muscle. I don't know know what I was expecting him to do, he was hardly going to turn around and stab me. I hoped not anyway, so all I could do is stare at the dark auburn hair on the back of his head.

Lunch was a welcome escape from classes that day. Jarred set himself down next to me. "So how's your freaky friend?"
"Don't even go there Jay he sits in front of me in English as well." Jarred thought this was hilarious I however did not.

Sat with my friends I got that uncomfortable feeling again. I turned round to see Cade at the back of the canteen, I don't think he was staring but his precence was enough to make my stomach churn.

After my last lesson I headed straight to the truck, I wanted to go home and get today completely off me. My entire journey home my mind wandered to that pair of amber eyes. He terrified me and interested me all at the same time. I had double Bio tomorrow morning he had to talk then at some point right?

"So I thought we could start writing this stuff up Saturday afternoon, if you're free?" I spoke to Cade. He barely said more than a couple of words but was something and certainly better than yesterday.
"Ummm yeah, I'm available."
"Great so do you want do this at yours or mine?"
"Not mine!" He blurted out quickly.
"Okay that's alright, just come to mine at about one." We exchanged numbers and I texted him my address.
"Actually I just thought, you can come over after this, I have free periods for the rest of the day."
"Yeah that would be cool."

Cade followed my Jeep in his Hummer. With a car like that he must have some money or atleast his family must.

I offered him a drink and a sandwich once in my kitchen.
"You live really close to the forests compared to most houses round here." I think that was the most I've ever heard him say at any one time so I was kind of shocked. I realised I was staring blankly at him instead of replying and managed to choke out "Yeah it's great, I love the woods."

We managed to get a good portion of our project done that afternoon, at this rate we'd be finished early. We even managed to hold good conversations rather than most of the talking coming from me. I do still believe he's creepy and possibly murderous though.

When he left I took a run through the forest, I had Lacrosse tomorrow with the official newbies so I need to be on my A game. About half way through my run I stopped to have a stretch and a breather, I realised I was in wolf territory. I spent a night in a tree round here once when I was too scared of the pack that was loitering around its base. They fascinated me, they were so dangerous and beautiful.

Around me I could see all the large wolf tracks. I really shouldn't be out here, it was getting late. If one of the pack found me out here on their territory I'd almost certainly be killed.

When I heard the start of the nights howls I picked up the pace immediately. And crashed through the door into the kitchen.

"Oh man you stink!" Blaine looked repulsed.
"That's the scent of a job well done bro." I laughed and tried to hug him but he just ducked out of my way.
"Please take a shower. For all our sakes. Now." Blaine pleaded.
I was already heading upstairs to my bathroom. "Yeah yeah yeah whatever."

Friday night I went to my usual reading tree until late. I crept into the house at a out two or three in the morning. Getting up for work at seven was not going to be fun.

"Bollocks! Bollocks, bollocks, bollocks!" I yelled as a crashed down the stairs at seven fortyfive, I was late, so very late.

I snatched a slice of toast off Blaine's plate. I heard some obscenities coming from him but I was already out the door and flooring it to the bookshop.

"Grace I'm so sorry I'm late, I completely over slept." I was talking a mile a minute as I walked through the shop door.

Grace was in her mid thirties and an amazing boss. She had dyed blue hair and thick glasses. "Alex it's fine you're my only employee and have been for years, I really don't mind." She gave me a warm smile and handed me a box books to put away on the cluttered shelves.

The boom shop is one of the few shops we have in the main part of town. It's only small but it's cozy. Books are stacked from floor the ceiling and there is the odd arm chair dotted around to sit and read in. This place is like heaven on earth and I'm pretty sure I've read every book in here.... twice.

When I got back home Cade was already parked in my driveway. He got out and smiled at me as I pulled up.

"Hi Alex."
"Hi Cade, go up to my room make yourself at home and I'll be up in a minute."

Cade was sat at my desk when I came up with drinks and snacks.

After three hours of solid work I couldn't take it anymore.
"Urrghh let's finish for today I'm so tired."
"I agree, I'm getting pretty bored."
"Well I'm sorry my company isn't good enough for you." I laughed.
"Oh ha ha really funny." He replied sarcastically. "I notice you always wear that necklace, how come?"
"Oh the wolf, they are my favourite animal and it was a present from my mom."
Cade's eyes twinkled somewhat "I like wolves too. So where is your mom I haven't seen her around?"
I looked to the floor "She died about five years ago."
"Oh my god I'm so sorry I didn't mean too......"
"Don't worry it's fine, really it is, that was along time ago now." I looked up at him and gave a small smile to reassure him.

"Did you want to come over to Evendale tomorrow? I live there and I'll be hanging out with my old school friends if you wanted to tag along, I'd pick you up at about 10?" He asked changing the subject.
Although he seems nicer, what if I get taken out the woods and killed. Evendale has more forest than here.

"Yeah I'll go." Alexandra Elizabeth Charles you moron.
