Cole was someone who was rarely sick, when he was, he tried to avoid his teammates so they wouldn't get sick too.
But mostly Kai didn't care and noticed when Cole was ill. He wanted to convince the earth ninja to take meds but Cole just waved his hand and said, that he was going to be fine.
In the end he would collapse while fighting or doing other things because he didn't rest. That was something the ninja made worry.
Cole is an open person but also very stubborn. He would hide in his room or hide his face beneath his shirt. When he does this, everybody in the monastery knows he is sick.
And today was one of those days. Cole was laying on his bed, coughing.
His throat ached very much and he almost couldn't breath. The earth ninja was wrapped in a blanket trying to warm himself up, but he just continued shivering.
He was pale, almost couldn't sleep and had deep purple eye bags beneath his chocolate coloured eyes.
Suddenly he heard a knock on his door. He immediately sat up so the person in front of his door wouldn't notice his illness.
"Cole, are you there?" It was Nya. She sounded pretty worried. Cole checked the time on his phone. Already 2:37 a.m? How long did I just lay here?
"Come in." He muttered under his heavy breath. The door knob turned and the door opened up.
Nya glanced at Cole. "Are you okay? You look pale." She simply whispered.
The reason: next door was her brother and if he would know that Cole isn't fine, he would panic because he isn't used to Cole being sick. Kai would literally turn into Maya.
"Yes, I'm good!" It was clear for Nya that he was sick. I mean, you could even hear it.
"Cole, please you are sick, get some rest, I'll bring you some meds." How soft Nyas voice turns when she is carrying, it always impressed the earth ninja.
Then there was another knock, this time a harsh one. "Cole, are you in there?" A male recognizeable voice said. Before Cole could answer the door swung open and it sent Cole shiver down his spine.
It was Kai. He peeked in and scanned the whole room. "Are you okay? I haven't seen you the whole day."
The sound of worriness was clear. Cole just smiled nervously at his boyfriend.
"Yes, I'm fine." Of all sudden the red ninja stomped towards the black ninja and tried to connect their lips.
But before he could do that, Cole's hand was between those lips. "Please, don't kiss me."
"Why?" The fire ninja was clearly confused.
"Well, uh- I'm sometimes not so into physical touch! I hope you understand that firefly." The earth ninja smiled innocently.
"That's a lie." Kai hissed. "I knew you would. I heard you and Nya talk before. Sorry if it is annoying when I worry."
"Kai please-" before the earth ninja could finish the door was shut rapidly and silence filled the room.
"Sorry Kai... I didn't mean to upset you." Cole said to himself. "I'm so stupid.."
He burried himself in his hands. Nya entered the room.
"Cole, I've got th- what happened?" She sat down next to the earth ninja and took hold of his shoulder.
"I really messed up. Kai heard us talking and I lied about being sick. Now he is mad at me and I also think I upset him."
The water ninja sighed. "He sometimes is a total drama queen." Nya chuckled slightly. "But also sensitive about those things, I also upset him with telling him that I can take care of my own."
"Should I talk to him?" Cole wanted to know. Nya thought for a few seconds.
"Yeah. I think so." She mumbled. "He still loves you in the end."
Cole just blushed and hid his face beneath his hands. "Okay, Imma just take the meds first or Imma die here." He laughed taking the meds.
Then he stood up and walked over to Kai's room, which was locked. "C'mon firefly...open up." He knocked.
The lock opened and the fire ninja's head peacked out. "What do you want." He just said coldly.
"Look, I'm sorry for making you worry and then won't let you take care of me." He mumbled. "You can take care of me if you want but not to much, okay?"
The fire ninja's eyes widened. "Okay!" He wanted to kiss Cole on his lips but he was interrupted by his boyfriend's hand again. "Please, I don't want you to get sick too."
"Don't care about that." He shoved Cole's hand on the side and interwined their fingers. Now soft lips were pressed on Cole's warm ones. He kissed back softly but then pulled away.
"Not to much, I'm serious." He nervously laughed.
Kai just nodded and took him by his wrist. He bought the earth master in his room and placed him on the bed. "I'll make some soup for you!" He said as he placed the blankets on the black ninja.
A few minutes later the fire ninja came back with a bowl. Inside of it warm soup.
"Soup's ready!" He smiled. Nya was right, he really acts like a mother towards sick people.
The bowl and a spoon was shoved into Cole's hands. "Eat, you must be starving." His soft smile warmthened Cole's heart.
And it was true, Cole was starving, he hasn't anything since yesterday during dinner. He took a small sip and felt the heat right in his tounge.
"Ouhh hot!" He whined sticking his tounge out. Kai just laughed in amusement. "Burned your tounge, mister sick?" The fire ninja teased.
"Oh shut up." Cole laughed. He waited and then took another sip. The soup was cooler than before and warmed Cole inside.
"This tastes good, did you make it?" The earth ninja asked. Kai nodded not hiding his pride.
"With my own fire, Rocky." He let a small flame fly above his palm. Cole just smiled and took another sip.
Soon he finished and placed the bowl on his nightstand. "Do you need something else, Rocky? Cookies? More food? Meds?" He started trailing off and also paniced somehow.
"Firefly." Cole finally said and the tan boy turned silent. "I'm fine, I got everything." He smiled softly.
Kai did so too and gave him a warm hug.
"Now come here." Cole whispered in Kai's ear and started tickling the shorter boy.
"C-Cole! Sto-HAHAHA" He bursted out laughing. "You know how ticklish...I- AM." Cole continued tickling him and soon he stopped.
"Don't.." Kai took a breather. "..do this ever again."
"Sorry firefly, here." Cole made some space next to him and offered it to Kai. Kai immediately accepted the offer of cuddling
And moved closer.
The both hugged eachother until they fell asleep together.
