I walked down the checker floor corridor to my locker, 437. It's passing time, hundreds of kids rush past me with binders and bags and loose papers. Rumor says that principle grout has a new strict late policy. I get to my top locker and reach over an olive skinned girl to to open my locker. The bell rings. "Shoot!". I exclaimed Every one is now In full rush to get to class. I take my math binders and rush to math class. The hallways are practically empty now, no one wants to be late. I rush past a couple corridors and make it to my math class. I twist the door nob, locked of course. My math teacher, mr stern walks to the door with an irritated look. He is a tall, thin man with a face that looks like it's been through years of stress. His graying hair is slicked back and he is wearing a classic teacher uniform. The door opens from his side. I brace myself for a scolding about being late to class. He takes a deep breath, and starts to talk in his monotone, boring teacher voice to me. The class is snickering in the back round. " Julia this is the Third time this week, I will be forced to take disciplinary action next time this sort of behavior occurs ". I just nod and take the scolding, because that's what he wants, that's what all teachers want. As badly as I wanted to yell about how long the corridors were and how it was impossible to get to class on time, I knew it would send me a straight ticket to the discipline office. After the scolding, mr stern tells me to go to my seat. I walk down the isle past sleeping kids, whispering kids, and occasionally a kid actually paying attention. I see Miranda in the back. She is dark skinned, plump bodied, and always wears her dark, curly hair in a gravity defying ponytail. She looks uncomfortable and slightly irritated today. I take my seat in the back of the classroom and take my books out my bag. I look to my side, miranda. " what page?" I whisper. She points to the side of her math book. I flip the page and spot were we are. Miranda's been my best friend for years, and she's always been happy, but today she's different. The way she just pointed at the book and avoided eye contact when I talked to her seemed weird. " what's wrong? I whisper". Miranda looks down for a long time and then shoots me a worried look. " we need to talk after class, something horrible happened yesterday, it was Vicky's doing". Tears started to fill her large, brown eyes. " Vicky?" I whisper. Just as Miranda is about to give me a response, the schools intercom buzzes on. It's principle grouts voice, and he sounds like a madman on the speakers as he yells the words that make my heart sink. " attention this is a school wide emergency we are on full level lockdown I repeat FULL level lockdown, men with guns have entered the building and-". The speakers go fuzzy and the sound of a yell rings through the intercom, which makes my heart sink deeper. With that the speakers go silent. Every one in the class stares around at each other in shock. Mr stern rushes to his emergency hand booklet and frantically locks the door and turns the lights off. Every one starts calling their parents. " every one get in the corner for your own safety!, yells mr stern. The class follows instructions, and me and Miranda sit next to jake and Susan. Jake is a slim, blonde haired surfing addict who always seemed to be vibrant and joyful, but now, he had fear in his eyes, everyone did now, including me. The only one not panicked was Susan, she was a blonde haired, make up and lipstick addict who always has the latest clothes in school. She was also best friends with the schools diva queen slash bitch, Vicky. Instead of fear, a placid sense of realization took her face, which was very strange considering what just happened. As the class huddled into the corner and tried their best to stay quiet, I pulled out my phone and tried to text my mom, but the service was down. Other kids in the room complained of the same thing. The whispers that filled the dark classroom cut cold as a blood curling scream echoed down the hallway. It was about three classrooms down from us. The scream was followed by loud gunshots. Miranda squeezed my arm and whimpered. Then footsteps and yelling started to get closer to the class room. Susan fiercely pushed a kid out of her way and she barreled across the classroom and hoped out the small window next to Mr sterns desk. Smart girl, someone whispered. Two other kids realized the footsteps were getting closer and tried to follow Susan and ran toward the window. But they were to late. Just as they were about to reach the window, bullets rained through the classroom door. Several of them made contact with the kids and they rolled to the floor yelling in pain. The whole classroom was shrieking in fear, even the boys. Mr stern had his back to the wall and had his eyes squeezed shut, he had wet himself badly. Miranda was in desperate fear. I myself was shocked in fear. " I can't believe this is happening !!" I whimpered repeatedly. But it wasn't over. The classroom door burst open and in poured three guys in black suits with large automatic guns. Two of them stomped over to us aiming guns. The other was talking on a walkie talkie. The two guys pushed past horrified teens and grabbed mr stern by the collar and brought him to the front of the classroom. They slammed him back first into the white board. "Okay this is how it's gonna go, this school is under OUR control. ALL of you are up for millions of dollars worth of ransom, so as long as you don't bug us, we won't hurt you, your teacher however gets a much darker fate". The words poured out the mans mouth enthusiastically as if he were talking about a good thing. The two men drag a pleading mr stern out of the classroom. We hear struggling, a gunshot, and a long, pain ridden cry. The two men don't return to the classroom and the remaining one installs a small bug camera in the front of the class. He lights a cigarette And starts to walk out the class room. Before he leaves he points at the camera he installed and says in a taunting voice "behave, we're watching!'. As soon as the door shuts the classroom bursts into commotion, I tune out the crying, sobbing and worrying and focus on miranda. "My parents are probably worried sick about me, I think they cut the phone lines so no one can call police." Miranda's words came out unsteady and choppy, she was at her breaking point. " I know it's horrible I'm still shaking, they KILLED mr stern!!", I whimpered. At that moment we hugged and comforted each other as another scream and gunshot echoed through the hallway.
