Dragonite narrates a flashback to the time he was born on Dracon. Born to Dragonus Prime and Dragonella, Drago was the hope for Dracon, until Unicron and his troops attacked and Drazeus killed King Druddigon. Drago was sent to the planet, Cybertron, after Dracon was destroyed by Unicron. That was when Autobots Ironhide and Chromia found the young Drago and raised him to be an Autobot. Growing up, he wanted to be the person he admired; a great Prime, like Optimus Prime.
In the present day, Drago and Druddigon were doing a quick sparring lesson, much to Sentinel Prime's ire. But when the Autobots receive a distress signal from a native planet called Nebulos, they find that Draconians were terrorizing the place. So, they have to help them. Meanwhile, Soundwave is after the Autobots and an unknown enemy is here to ruin it. So, he informs Shockwave, but he's busy wondering about who is targeting the Autobots. Soundwave also tries asking Galvatron to find the unknown enemy, and he accepts.
On what's left of Planet Nebulos, Drazeus and his 2 generals, Darksteel and Skylynx have fun conquering and destroying planets at their whim. Then, they head to a nearby bar where they talk about how these 2 met Drazeus. So, Drazeus abandons his true name and renames himself as "Predaking". On their way to Nebulos, Drago discovers a power level equal to that of a Prime. And, he meets the one who will be the Dragon King, Drazeus AKA Predaking. Now, the two Draconians meet for the first time. Both explain their ideals, one explaining his dream to become a Prime and the other explaining how he hates Drago's father's ideals to have dreams of their own, trying new things, which is a weakness to all Draconians. And not only that, he heard about the Seeds of Unicron event and the Battle of Unicron. In which he blames Optimus for following Dragonus' ideals and teaching them to Drago.
As Darksteel and Skylynx take on Optimus and Sentinel, Drago faces Predaking with unbridled rage, claiming that Optimus changed his life, and fights him head-on. Drago has the upper hand but Predaking is too strong. Then, Predaking tries to kill Optimus, but look who saved them in time: the Neo Autobots! Moledive, Sharkbite, Toravolt, and Windfire are all filled in on what's happening by Druddigon as they retreat. Predaking heads for the Neo-Nemesis, where Galvatron is on the ship.
Back on Cybertron, Sentinel explains the enemy to the Elite Guard and back on Earth, Ratchet tends to Drago's wounds. With the threat growing stronger by the day, everyone's getting worried about Drago, especially Optimus, who gives him a pep talk about what he and Dragonus talked about before he died sending Drago to Cybertron. It was then he knew, Optimus was taught to have dreams by Dragonus. Like he did Drago.
Meanwhile, Predaking took over the Neo-Nemesis and attacked Cybertron, looking to beat the spark out of any Autobot, or Decepticon, who is involved with the sealing of Unicron, but Druddigon stands in his way and challenges him to a battle. Then, Darksteel and Skylynx face the Elite Guard and beat them all 1 by 1, including Ironhide, Chromia, Rodimus Prime, Kup, and Windblade. Sentinel tries to take them on but is beaten instead. So, Perceptor sends a distress signal to the Earthbound Autobots, calling for their help.
The Earthbound Autobots have no choice but to go, but without Drago, how can they beat Predaking? But then, Drago arrives and reveals that Draconians can heal themselves using the power of the Sun. Now all Autobots are assembled, so let's save Cybertron! Meanwhile, Galvatron realizes that Predaking wants to be Dragon King and rule both Cybertron and Earth, which is a bad idea for Starscream who snipes at Predaking for their betrayal. However, the 2 Draconians found him and beat him up.
The Autobots have arrived on Cybertron, where Predaking is hiding and the 2 Draconians show them the Elite Guard Autobots in crosses. The Neo Autobots get ready to attack Darksteel and Skylynx, so Drago must take on Predaking and Optimus joins him. While the battle was going on, the Autobots rescued the Elite Guard, as well as Starscream. Back to the fight at hand, the Neo Autobots defeat Darksteel and Skylynx. And, Predaking is still stronger than Optimus and Drago combined. Then, Galvatron shoots Predaking in the back leaving Predaking to attack him instead, since he and Unicron are related to the destruction of Dracon. The Neo Autobots free them and it's Predaking vs Galvatron. Soundwave transports them somewhere safe under his orders. But, once they came back, Galvatron was already beaten.
The battle continues between Drago and Optimus against Predaking and he blows them both away. However, Drago's still hanging on. As he remembers his friends and the battles he went through and the resolve to never give up. Predaking and Drago both unleash their special attacks on each other. Predaking increases his power, which overwhelms him. But, Drago turns into Shining Mode and Predaking increases his power even more. Even the power of Shining Mode isn't enough to beat him. Until, he goes beyond his limits as Drago unleashes his new power, sending him flying and out of Cybertron's reach. Predaking was defeated. However, the strain on his broken limits took a toll on his body and he fell out of the sky. Luckily, Druddigon saved him once they returned to Cybertron. Drago woke up with Optimus, knowing that the battle was over. And, what happened to Predaking? He was blasted into an unknown planet until he met 4 of his kind.
