That was all that he wanted, to just fall in love.

It was the dream he dreamt of every night, although his friends picked and teased he knew in his heart that falling in love with the woman of his life was his destiny, his path of life.

He walked up to her that one day ready to open his heart and let her in, but she had a surprise of her own so she had whispered back into his ear, “Boy can I tell you a wonderful thing, I can tell by your eyes that you’re in love with me”

They lived for years in happiness and joy, sharing thoughts of love not noticing the outside world.  The world filled with hate, death, and pain.  Oh how easy it was for them to ignore it when their love overpowered the rest.  Too young to notice and too young to care, the power of love just couldn’t compare to what lied beyond that loving shine that laid deep within their eyes.

But one day when he got down on his knees asking for her life, in marriage and an eternal love bond that would last for forever.

She gently shook her head and once again whispered in his ear, “Boy can I tell you a terrible thing, it seems that I’m sick and I’ve only got weeks.  Please don’t be sad now, I really believe, you were the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”

Slowly, oh so slowly his heart crashed and tore to pieces.  The barrier that he had put up to protect himself from pain and tear had finally come down, only to leave him alone and bare.

As he gently placed the tulips onto her grave, he whispered these words that surely reached her perfect ears that were listening from above, “I love you and always will, watch me from heaven and you will see, that you too were the greatest thing that ever happened to me”

Now he goes around begging anyone in his reach to never fall in love, to walk away don’t let it get you, he cant bare to see anyone else he sees captured by the strong powerful arms of love.  The terrible things that hide between and around our world will wrench your heart out, until there are no more tears to cry.  So don’t fall in love it’s a terrible thing, especially when half of your heart disappears with the love of your life, and is locked away forever...never to be found again.

He only tells us this because life can do terrible things.
