PROLOGUE
Present day
Kiara sat alone on the bench after leaving the restaurant. Her winter coat didn't help either, as the cold weather beat on her skin and penetrated deep into her bones. Luckily, she wore a beanie and had her red scarf with her. She quickly wrapped it around her neck and almost covered her face to keep warm. The place was less busy in the mornings because most of the guests preferred to stay inside in the winter. But she loved the beach and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. It brought peace to her mind and soul. It also reminded her of someone she had missed the most. Kiara reached her hands into the pocket of her winter coat, which contained heat packs, as she walked along the beach, admiring the beauty of Mother Nature. Sometimes she felt the baby move and she gently stroked her belly. Kiara was pregnant now, and her child belonged to the man she loved. He was her first love, and he was the man who brought joy into her life by cherishing her with all his love. No other man could ever replace him in her heart. But the story of their love wasn't as simple as she had expected. Human greed for wealth had separated them from each other. Still, Kiara never gave up and still hoped that one day they'd be reunited, even if she didn't know what would happen then.
Kiara approached the shelter, and she saw several guests gathered. Some of them were chatting with each other, oblivious to her presence. She smiled under her scarf and took a seat next to them. Her thighs ached from the long walk and she massaged them when she noticed that her right shoelace was undone. Kiara tried to bend over and could only reach for the lace, which seemed impossible with her growing belly. She was unable to react quickly as a man approached and knelt in front of her.
"Oh! You shouldn't have done that," she mumbled against the thick scarf as she tapped the man on the shoulder, trying to stop him.
"Let me help you, ma'am. You can't do it by yourself," he said as he tied her shoelaces. Kiara was speechless; she recognized the voice. The voice was familiar to her. It was the voice she had wanted to hear for a long time. But she wasn't sure if he was the same one she had been looking for because their haircuts were completely different. Her lover had black, silky, and curly mullet wolf-cut hair, but this guy had a short haircut and blond hair. She was dying to see his face, but he hadn't lifted his head as he was still tying her left shoelace.
"Did I tie it well? Are you comfortable?" He asked again, but Kiara was unable to answer. The voice was endearing, like music to her ears. She pulled the scarf down and reached for the man's arm. The man was surprised by her action and raised his head to look at her. His eyes widened as he looked at the woman in front of him. Kiara could no longer hold back her tears. After a few months, they finally met again.
"Jungkook..." Her voice trembled as she called his name. She could see tears welling up in his eyes. At that moment, there was no word they could say. All they did was stare at each other, and their eyes silently communicated with each other. They could feel the mixed emotions in them. With trembling hands, Jungkook reached for her hands and squeezed them tightly against his.
"Kiara..."
